Editor's Notes

  • #2: Thank you for your time and consideration to allow Kidblog into our school system. We would like to give you an overview of the website and give some insight into how students will use this tool in the classroom.
  • #3: This is an example of what the classroom blog can look like. Each student will have their own account and have the choice to post items privately or for the entire class to read. One way this can be used in our classrooms is for a daily journal or writing assignment. Other ideas include posting about current topics in class and being able to have discussions with other classmates. Students will be able to comment on each other’s blog when the postings are made public.
  • #4: One of the most important reasons that Kidblog is right for us is the safety features involved with the site. Teachers have control over all student accounts, if the students are posting anything inappropriate the teacher can restrict posting privileges of that student so that the teacher has to approve the post before others can view it. Another great safety feature is no personal information is required for each student. They can simply be logged in under their first name. One of the last things that we would like to point out for a safety feature is the ability to post a blog publically is only given to the teacher, other than that the blogs are completely safe and only accessed by the classroom students, teachers, and parent accounts can also be created at the teacher’s discretion.
  • #5: Some ways that Kidblog can work for us include the ability to embed other web 2.0 tools! Students can create projects through additional tools and share them with the class safely through their blog. Another great feature is Kidblog Basic Accounts are completely FREE!! There are two additional types of accounts that require payment, but are reasonably priced. Lastly Kidblog is available through Google Apps! Our school system has already started using Google accounts for our students and it will be an easy transition to start using the Kidblog App with their established accounts.
  • #6: Kidblog will help students meet some of the National Technology standards as well as meet Common Core standards. They will be using this tool to interact with peers and can use the tool in conjunction with other digital tools. This will also help them understand technology systems and operations and they can use the knowledge they obtain through the use of this blog site to effectively work other sites.
  • #7: Teachers using Kidblog in the classroom will also be meeting the National Technology Standards for Teachers. The teacher will be responsible to incorporate the blog into lessons and can use other digital tools along with the blog to assign projects to be completed in class. The teacher will need to be able to show students how to use the blog prior to assigning anything for students to complete online. The teacher will also help to promote digital citizenship and responsibility of using the internet for communications. Some of the first lessons before the students should use the blog would include a demonstration of the site and acceptable language allowed on the blog.
  • #8: We thank you for your time and consideration of using Kidblog within the school system.
