This document discusses the rise in cosmetic surgical procedures among adolescent girls aged 13 to 19 in Ontario and argues for a ban. Common procedures include breast augmentation and liposuction, which pose health risks for adolescents. The influence of mass media promoting thin ideals is a major factor in adolescent girls' body dissatisfaction and increasing demand for cosmetic surgery. Ontario has weak regulations for cosmetic surgery, without requirements for specialized training or facility approval. A ban could help address health and ethical issues until stronger policies are implemented.
