Could we live without the Internet?
Why? (Why not???)
Why people use the internet?
• Internet. It can be understood pretty well because it is very convenient
just push the "Start"’ button and search for the necessary information in
Google rather than for a long time and most probably unsuccessfully
gathering it in the libraries and among the friends. It became so simple to
get a piece of advice from a person you want, you need to place you
question in a popular social network or in the special websites. So, if to
think deeply, nowadays having a computer and the Internet is not a
privilege, but it is a primary need, which makes you an inevitable part of
the modern world, in which we are living.
7 reasons why we can’t live without
the internet
• 1. To be a part of society.
As I was talking in my project above, being a social part is a
necessary need and even obligation of every human. To be
such one we need to follow the technologies development.
And exactly the Internet favors this fact as nothing else does.
• 2. To get information they need.
Going to the libraries or to different bookstores is no longer
popular as at least several years ago because now it will be
expensive to buy a book, and very time consuming as it is
easier to download and to look through the article you need
in the Internet by using Google. Just by several clicks people
can reach the data from every corner of the world. Isn’t it
amazing?
• 3. To communicate with each other.
E-mail is by far the most inexpensive and efficient way to
communicate with persons outside of local calling areas. Can
you imagine your life without using Skype or Viber, or without
visiting such popular social networks as Facebook,Gmail,
Yahoo and so on? I guess the answer will be "No". Because if you
once registered then you became addicted to it. Communicating
through social network became a normal thing, and to say more
now you can have friends all over the world and share valuable
knowledge and experience both you and they gained.
• 4. Jobs
The Internet is becoming more and more
essential to getting and keeping a job.
Increasingly, companies are moving their
recruitment efforts online, and larger numbers
of job-seekers each day are putting their
resumes onto career sites on the Web. More
and more frequently, those without Internet
access find themselves taking what's left after
the electronic job matches already have been
made.
And those already "on the job" are finding that
the Internet is giving a whole new meaning to
the term, as more and more people are
working remotely from home, using PCs to stay
connected to the office. Office workers without
Internet access will be increasingly at a
disadvantage, as companies move to increase
their numbers of "teleworkers."
• 5. Health care
If you need emergency treatment for a toothache, how do you find a
dentist, in the middle of the night? Many HMOs now offer benefits and
enrollment information 24 x 7 x 365, on the Web. Diabetes is one of many
ailments that affect African Americans disproportionately. What's the best
way to manage it? Some medical facilities now have the ability to monitor
diabetic patients' blood-sugar levels remotely, online. More and more
hospitals, private practitioners, and medical researchers are turning to the
Web, putting up sites offering valuable information to the general public.
American medicine is the most technologically advanced in the world, but
Internet access is essential to getting the best it has to offer.
• 6. Shopping
More and more consumer transactions are being done online.
It is more efficient and definitely more convenient for
shoppers, because it allows them to shop from the comfort of
their own homes. Consumers are able to take advantage of the
best prices through online auctions, which allow shoppers to
name their own prices for goods or services. And, when
"traditional" routes fail, the Internet often is the only way to
get that hard-to-find item you really want, or need.
• 7. Education
The Internet is transforming education in the U.S. America's public
schools are working under a government mandate to get wired to
the Internet, and all schools -- public and private, K-12 and college
-- are making use of it: distributing and collecting homework by e-
mail; holding virtual classes in chat rooms; broadcasting lectures by
streaming video; and more. "Distance learning," using information
technology, is one of the fastest-growing segments of adult
education. Even many professional tutors are taking their services
online. And for prospective college students, the Internet offers
the best way to search for scholarship dollars.
Those without Internet access will miss
out on many educational opportunities.
• In conclusion, we can’t live
without internet, because it is
very useful and also because in
our century this is not a
privilege, is a primary need,
which makes you an inevitable
part of the modern world, in
which we are living. But also, we
have to be very careful and not
get addicted to it because our
time is very important.
