Static Characters A static character does not undergo important change in the course of the story, remaining essentially the same at the end as he or she was at the beginning. The changes they go through are not changes in circumstances (like getting older moving somewhere new) INSTEAD they are changes within the character in question: such as changes in understanding of circumstances, or changes in commitment or value values. Ex: Malik is a dynamic character because he changes from being selfish to worrying about someone else. Ex: A thug who finds Jesus and becomes super religious and gives up a violent life to become a preacher
