Cracking The Executive Presence Code
Boost Presence, Tame Your Emotional Triggers, and Erase Self Doubt
Have you ever been told
you need to work on your
professional or Executive
Presence?
Which of your actions create this perception and
are you justifying people’s impression about your
presence?
Task and
relationships…
Oftentimes, many business
leaders think they should be all
about tasks, actions, and solving
problems but they
unconsciously fail to balance
tasks and relationships or take a
deep look at situations. Their
survival mechanism, early
beliefs, and high wall ultimately
erode their executive presence.
In case you missed it: Cracking The Professional Etiquette Code
Executive
Presence
Presence is an elusive term used to
bundle a lot of expectations that include
self-awareness, emotional intelligence,
speaking, and acting with confidence; it
also assumes that the person is a role
model even in the most difficult times
and that they hear others beyond the
surface level
Executive Presence is the ability to act decisively and
with dignity while embodying the most quintessential
elements of leadership.
Those with an executive presence work well under
pressure, communicate clearly, use good judgment,
and have a confident and capable persona.
Why Build this
presence?
Whether it is naturally cultivated or
developed over time, an executive
presence is crucial when it comes to
personal and business success.
Leaders who do not have an executive
presence will struggle to progress in
their careers, even if they have the
necessary experience and qualifications.

Leaders with executive
presence effortlessly capture
the attention of those they
speak to or lead.
Key traits of
executive presence
Leaders with executive presence are
emotionally intelligent, self-aware, and
confident. This professional presence also
ensures that they do all of the following:
02
Leaders with this trait
have the ability to
influence important
decisions and outcomes.
03
They communicate their
expectations and thoughts
clearly, and speak well as they
engage peers, direct reports,
clients ,or the organisation
stakeholders: .

Executive presence ensures
leaders can effectively
command a room. They have
the charisma and ability to
command the atmosphere of
any gathering.

An emotional trigger is anything — including memories,
experiences, or events — that sparks an intense
emotional reaction, regardless of your current mood.
Emotional triggers erode confidence and adversely
affect your professional and executive presence.
Hence, you need to discover what is lurking below the
surface of your confidence and presence.
Finding the main source or remedy of these triggers is beyond
skills training, confrontations, EQ courses, traditional coaching, or
meditation, but having to go deeper to understand its never-
ending cycle.
Emotional Triggers…
Emotional Triggers make us prone
to impulsive actions which bring us to
”Fight or Flight”-wrestler behaviour
or silent mode- that may be misaligned
with our values as leaders.
Signs of Fight to Flight:
▪ Hyperventilation
▪ Mind Chatter
▪ Shortened Breath
▪ Red skin
▪ Flushed skin
▪ Gut feeling
▪ Increased heart rate
▪ Judging/justifying position
Note: In any Fight or Flight
situation, your higher thinking
brain wants you to exhibit
compassion, empathy,
problem-solving, and critical-
thinking skills.
What erodes
confidence and our
executive presence
What is lurking behind your confidence
and triggers is not a lack of knowledge,
skills, or abilities.
The root is tied to something deeper. It is
connected to some of the eight common
forms of self-doubt that include:

Yourself up
Hello.
We don’t need to do that to ourselves. It is a human experience to
have self-doubt. In fact, successful people also deal with some form of
these self-doubts. In fact, the same things that create your triggers, also
bring your greatest gifts that got you promoted or got you noticed.
However, self-doubt costs us a lot; It costs us a lot personally and
financially.
