Creating The Magazine
(1) (2)

Before editing the masthead to go behind the head. We decided to experiment with two different fonts. Both similar
and different. Both fonts are sans serif which is what we are aiming for however they differ in shape. In image (1) the
font is squared whereas (2) is more rounded. We think that (1) is typically more conventional l for a film magazine cover
as the font is seen elsewhere within the area such as on the ‘Blockbuster’ logo.
A typical convention of a magazine cover is to place the model
over the masthead. This represents them as important and a
key part of the issue which we wanted to put across. This was
done by putting the original image into Photoshop and selected
around the part of the face that needed to be placed over the
masthead. To do this we used the ‘Quick Select Tool’ and then
made the outside area transparent and saved the image as a
PNG. Once imported into InDesign we placed the cut out face
over the original image and ensured it was completely lined up.
We edited this by keeping the
 buzz word ‘Exclusive’ but
placing it at a straight angle
instead of a slant as it made it
 look more professional. In
 addition to this we changed
the font type and made the
 black box behind it better
fitted and smaller in order to
 make it look more
 sophisticated.

  We changed the font type
of our film title from sans
serif to serif as it stood out
  more and the sharp edges
  help to represent the genre.

We then wrote the main cover
lines in capitals. The things we
included were typical things
that might be included. Things
that involve the actors and
makers of the film to help gain
audience attention and create a
bond between them.
We added in a flash to help catch
the viewers eye and create public
interest.
The flash is also relevant to our
film as it advertises premiere
tickets for the film.

After changing the information in the plugs
Originally we started out with we also adapted the font styles. Firstly we
these plugs both about horror put everything into capital letters for
films. We wanted the magazine to emphasis and then changed the font to
be general and mainstream so we ‘Minion Pro’ and made the first letter of
decided to change the information some words into a larger size and made it
on the plugs to things consisting of bold. We decided to make this decision after
other genres. As well as this we looking at the joker magazine front cover in
changed the look of the text as it our research. It looked very appealing and
was too plain and uninteresting like strong. This successfully translated into our
                                    this. piece.
