Hyman Lippman, a painter, often had trouble finding his eraser and pencil. To solve this problem, he invented a pencil with an eraser attached to one end. His creative invention allowed him to both write with the pencil and easily erase marks, solving his problem of frequently misplacing or losing his separate eraser and pencil.
