- 5. Part I: Proposed Solution Identify the solutions you considered. Clearly identify your final choice. Bullet points is fine. For example: Mr. Happy and I considered: • Creating an improved paper-based system • Using a spreadsheet to maintain the data • Organising the data in a relational database After discussion, we decided a relational database would best solve his problems. - 6. Part II: Requirements Specification IT System Requirements What hardware and software (including versions) will be needed to run the final solution? System Interaction Must your solution work with any other systems? Input / Output Requirements What data must be input / output from the system? Be specific: not just ‘student details’ but ‘student name’, ‘student date of birth’. Include: • Input (by student during creation) • Input (by client / user during use) • Output Processing What functions must your solution perform? Security What security features will be implemented? - 7. Part III: Specific Performance Criteria Clear bullet points that outline the specific things your solution must need in order to be considered ‘complete’. Part III: Justification of Chosen Solution • Explain how your solution addresses each point in the Initial Investigation. • Compare your chosen solution with one or two other solutions you considered. Say why those solutions would not solve the client's problem. Say why your solution is the best. Always refer to the problem explained in Criteria A. • Describe the software/hardware you will need to use for the project. Justify this choice by referring to: your skills, your clients skills, availability, and compatibility with the client's current hardware and software.
