- 4. CRITICAL THINKERS CHARACTERISTICS Open-minded people… Consider a variety of possible viewpoints or perspectives because they recognize the influence of motives and bias. Accept a new explanation, model, or paradigm because it explains the evidence better or has fewer inconsistencies. Accept new priorities in response to a reevaluation of the evidence or reassessment of our real interests. Do not reject unpopular views out of hand because they really want to seek for the truth.
