- 1. ! CrowdGuard’s mission is to increase security in public and work spaces by empowering humans to help each other.! We use peer-based education to teach prevention and safe intervention skills.! We segment helpers communities in ways that identify them to existing and trusted communities.! The trusted helper communities then host trainings and verify app users. In return CrowdGuard supports communities and organisations in implementation of anti- harassment and reporting guidelines.! ! Our technology: world’s first bystander activation app against sexual assaults! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! Our approach: cross discipline, locally embedded and participant driven! CrowdGuard combines mobile phone technology with scientific findings and practical knowledge.! People who’ve experienced harassment or assault have been included in research and development since onset.! CrowdGuard users are trusted volunteers who pledge to stand up for each other.! ! Project status: pilot tested! The Youth Ambassador workshops and community app were tested and evaluated in New Delhi between 2015-2016. Results include:! 5000 students from over 50 colleges in New Delhi have participated in the classroom and workshop sessions, and over 500 students and young professionals are actively using the community app. ! For the awareness-raising and education campaign we’ve trained 25 students as Youth Ambassadors, collaborated with another 50 volunteers, and built a core team of dedicated contributors in New Delhi. ! The community-segmentation on the mobile app, and the Code of Conduct initiative to embed local communities in the change process have been learning outcomes during the pilot phase and have been iteratively developed and added.! Survey findings show that educated and connected helpers have an improved sense of receiving and providing help to people nearby. - 2. Our theory of change! CrowdGuard’s theory of change builds on a socio-ecological model with the aim to initiate sustainable changes on the individual, peer, community and societal levels: ! ! ! ! On the individual level we offer training, supporting information and connectivity to increase self-assertiveness and safe bystander intervention.! On the peer level we offer discussion rounds, workshops and street theatres to de-taboo harassments, to stop victim blaming and to create role-models of concerned, empowered and active citizens.! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! On the community level we offer support on implementation and enforcement of Codes of Conduct against discrimination and harassments, and to open a complementary civil law venue of protection.! ! ! ! On the societal level we offer awareness- raising campaigns, dissemination of supporting information and lobbying towards comprehensive scope and effective implementation of laws and regulations against sexual and gender based violence.
