Why does this matter to you?INCLUSION, INCLUSION, INCLUSION In recent years many schools have moved away from the self-contained classroom model outside of students with MID and Pervasive Development Delays (at times)Students with special needs are being placed in the general education classroom Many teachers are not being trained to handle the different instructional strategies and adjustments required by students with special needs

- 5. Assistive Technology IDEA defines AT in terms of "devices" and "services." An Assistive Technology Device is defined as "any item, piece of equipment or product system, whether acquired commercially off the shelf, modified or customized, that is used to increase, maintain or improve the functional capabilities of individuals with disabilities" (IDEA 300.5).
