On a daily basis I create and work with Test Plans for applications, middleware, DBs and OSs. I have good experience in functional and non- functional testing from design to release using both AGILE and traditional Waterfall methods. I work to PCI standards on financial payments projects. I am suited to challenging roles that allow and encourage initiative. Work History Payzone Senior QA Engineer & Team Lead Nov 10 to Present I returned to Payzone as a Senior QA Engineer and after 3 years I was promoted to QA Test Lead. Payzone is Irelands’ largest independent cash and electronic payment acceptance network. As Payzone handles payment details, we are a PCI (Payments Card Industry) compliant company, so all of our software and systems are scanned during every stage of the Development Process by Acunetix and Nessus to identify any security vulnerabilities. As Senior QA Engineer I am involved in the test effort (Waterfall and Agile) for complex multi-tiered transaction processing systems where test focus is on the back end processing at a message protocol level, transactional reporting and reconciliation verification. Our systems involves Websites, Mobile Apps, SMS, Terminals and Rex POS (Linux) performing transactions with our system that will either complete the transaction within Payzone or interact with a third party to complete the transaction. All communication/transactions are recorded in databases and log files and all communication protocols used are secure and conform to PCI. We must test from end to end with merchants and clients to be reconciled at the end of the process. The main functions I perform include: As QA Lead I support the team of 3 testers. This involves project scheduling for all projects entering QA and the establishment of the test scope and the approach assessment for these projects. I also co- ordinate tests during the system integration test phase. I am involved in the recruitment and the management of the team members. The Test Plan evolved during the installations to ensure processes were being adhered to and that the engineer and client feedback and comments were included in the Test Plan. Client Contracts: Tesco Team lead for team of engineers, electricians, work persons to oversee project of replacing all POS hardware and moving to new Linux based software refresh project. Ulster Bank In this contract I had to manage a team of engineers to relocate servers and switches to larger server cabinets and confirm through test that there was no interruption to business for the bank both locally and remotely to ensure seamless changeover. AIB Team Lead for project to replace all POS workstations and ensure the installation and configuration of new hardware at all points in the bank and to maintain physical security and tracking of both old and new hardware during the cycle. Microsoft Senior UAT Engineer July 08 to Oct 09 I worked on a contract with Microsoft’s Education Group as a Senior UAT Engineer. The team are responsible for Microsoft’s learning division and the tools and services Microsoft provide to the education market. My main focus was the Callisto project that offers teachers and students a one stop site for communication and collaboration. The site offers the teacher the facility to schedule and deliver courses and the student the facility to communicate and submit files to teachers and students. My job was to work out how best to test this site using the tools available. Responsibilities: • Creating Test Plans and Specifications. • Investigating Automation tools to increase testing productivity. • Creating Test cases. • Reporting and meeting with Project Managers. • Establishing handoff methods. Accenture / Microsoft Senior UAT tester Sept 07 to July 08 I worked on a contract for Accenture in Microsoft. I worked on the OEM Team. This team manages billing and licencing for the OEMS globally, these OEMs use Microsoft software on their systems. All transactions are done through the Management Operations Portal and this is split into areas, these were the components/areas that my team tested. Responsibilities: Page 2 of 4
- 3. • The User acceptance testing of the OEM website involved testing the website as a user would use it. • Ensure the data flowed through the system correctly with external systems (SAP). • Working with the business owners to ensure all angles of testing was being covered. • Collaborating with US development team to ensure smooth testing during tight deadlines. • Ensuring system performs as expected for both Microsoft and their customers. • Following transactions through the system to ensure data and calculations were accurate. • Ensuring site security was maintained. Alphyra Group Limited (Payzone) Senior Software Test Engineer April 07 to Sept 07 I worked on a contract with Alphyra on the testing of their new payment platform ‘Panther’. Previous to this new web based platform Alphyra were using a dated cumbersome server based platform called MOPS. Responsibilities: • Creating Test Plans to test releases (Individual Components, System and integration) of the new and changing software products. • Creating and implementing the testing cycle, test cases, test matrices, process workflows & bug management. • Security scanning software to ensure that the release was secure and compliant with industry standards. I.T. Alliance Group Limited Software Engineer Sept 05 to Mar 07 I worked onsite in Microsoft on the Managed Services team. I was a localisation engineer working on Word for Office2007. The main programming languages I worked on were Java, xml and flash. Responsibilities: • Investigation and fixing or escalating bugs that the vendor was unable to fix. • Working with the US core team in resolving core bugs. • Carrying out quality checks on files at milestone stages throughout the project cycle. Bowne Global Solutions Senior QA Engineer Jan 02 to Aug 05 I worked with Bowne Global Solutions as a QA Engineer on many different PC and MAC projects for clients such as Microsoft, Adobe and Epson. Responsibilities: • Creating Test Plans to test the clients localised software products. • Managing the testing cycle, test cases, test matrices, process workflows and bugs. • Leading QA teams and ensuring maximum efficiency of efforts. • Communicating with management and clients to ensure project success. Spectel-Multilink Alpha Test Engineer Dec 00 to Jan 02 In Spectel, I was responsible for the alpha testing of the teleconferencing kit and software that controlled it.
