Cybernetics is the transdisciplinary study of regulatory systems, their structures, constraints, and possibilities. It includes the study of feedback and concepts like communication and control in living organisms, machines, and organizations. Norbert Wiener is considered the father of cybernetics, coining the term in reference to governance and control. Cybernetics examines systems capable of receiving, storing, and processing information for control, like a home furnace that maintains temperature via a thermostat or automatic cruise control in cars.
