This document describes a study that collected data on the throwing demands of different positions in collegiate softball games. The researchers observed over 200 innings and 2800 pitches to determine: 1) Pitchers threw an average of 89 pitches per game; 2) Catchers spent 14 minutes per game in a squat stance; 3) Infielders threw between 4-6 times per game; 4) Outfielders threw up to 175 feet. Based on this data and softball injuries, the researchers developed interval throwing programs for rehabilitation and conditioning at each position.
