Page 1 of 2 Data Logger Specifications Note: Data Logger Specifications will need to be adjusted based on the telemetry that is being specified. It is recommended that the data logger be able to communicate simultaneously with at least two different data communication devices. These devices can be INSAT, VSAT, GPRS, Line-of-Sight Radio, Inmarsat, or any other device. The Data Collection Platform shall be a well proven and widely used model, produced by a primary brand name and tested in a large number of installations. A manufacturer’s certificate shall be provided that the model proposed has been in production at least 2 years. All data collection platforms shall be of the same make and model, with identical configurations so that the data collection platforms can be used throughout the entire network. The Data Collection Platforms shall be capable of unattended operation for up to one year. The continuous power is not available for most of the network, so the power will need to be supplied on-site with the use of solar panels. The Data Collection Platforms shall meet or exceed the following specifications: Category Description General Open design, operating a wide variety of sensors Multi-tasking operating system capable of simultaneous data collection and data transmission Internal clock drift of less than 2 seconds (can be accomplished by GPS) GPS antenna and time sync as often as once per day Display Digital display for viewing latest data (must be internal display) Sensor Input 4 Analog input 2 Digital input (these are separate from the digital output) 2 Digital output (programmable) 2 Tipping bucket input SDI-12 allowing connection to 10 SDI-12 devices with 5 parameters per device Other inputs as required by the sensors being installed at the station A/D resolution 16 bits or better I/O Interface 2 input/output interfaces for use of data communication, including simultaneous use of any two data communication radios/systems 1 input/output interface for the programming of the data collection platform. This must be in addition to the two input/output interfaces used for data communication. Cables for programming shall be included with each data logger. Unlimited licenses for the software used for data communication Software compatible with Windows XP and Windows 7 Data Storage Storage of one year of data, expandable to 1 GB or better Memory for data storage shall be non-volatile. Data stored will not be lost in the event of power interruption or system reset. Functionality Keyboard function to allow the adjustment of datums and viewing of data on display (must be internal) Power 11-15V DC Data collection platform shall survive reverse polarity connections (system will operate normally when polarity is applied properly without any other changes, such as fuses) If Data Collection Platform power is interrupted the platform will have the option to restart data collection and transmissions automatically, and without technician intervention. Environmental Operating temperature: -30 to +60 degrees C Relative humidity: 5% to 100%, semi-arid climate Altitude: 300 to 4,000m
