- 6. DAVAO – The largest town in Mindanao.
- 7. THE HISTORY OF DAVAO
- 8. They very first people who were in Davao before the arrival of Pagans were not yet mixed through marriage.
- 9. It’s inhabitant were called KALAGANS. Only kalagans were its people, because none of the tribes was mixed with them, because they were all pure kalagans.
- 10. DATU BAGU – who ruled with power. He envited all his subjects in his camp and said “ We will look for a place for ourselves for farming here at the edge of the beach”, because that place was not far from the sea cost
- 11. Many kind of Crops were planted by Datu Bagu, because he had a strong rule over the large land.
- 12. There was a large BODY OF WATER and Datu Bagu said that “ I will build my house near the water”. The reason why do not know the name of this body of water is that it is only now that this body of water has been cleared. I will call this river “DAVAO” we, the people who live here, are Kalagans.
- 13. •One day when the place became known far and near, another DATU like him across the sea heard about him.
- 14. • So it happen that Datu Bagu attacked by the other Datu whose name Datu Maguda. • The purposed in coming to Davao is, because we heard the Datu in Davao, who is called Datu Bago , has a daughter, who is pretty.
- 15. • When the messenger returned and Datu learned that the who arrived there was Datu Maguda, whom he knew was the brother lost along time ago and said, “ Tell him to come and tell that I, the one rulling in Davao , am his elder brother.
- 16. • They younger brother of Datu Bagu never left hid older brother until their people became very numerous in that place called of Davao which both of them rulled.

- 25. Folk TaleMANDAYA OMAN-OMAN (Buyag na Butingin) During a Famine , BAKIWOS comes upon a Bahi tree, the pith of which is edible.he chops off the branch and discovers that it was natok (edible substance from the pith).
- 26. • He quickly fetches his wife and together they decide to live near the Bahi tree. The next day , the old woman ask Bakiwos wether he has able to collect plenty of Natoc. Bakiwas answer rudely that it is not of her business.
- 27. The woman becomes angry and leaves. She then chances upon two orphans looking for food. As they are polite, the old woman points a small Bahi tree and teaches them to collect food. They offer food to the woman who readily accept. She then tells the Children to leave immedaitely and proceed to the cave.
- 28. • Following instruction, the Children chance upon a wild boar which they take to the cave. Then, they hear the old woman placing a curse on Bakiwos. “Explode, explode, rainstorm, explode and bore a hole in masara where Bakiwos is, and may Bakiwos be accursed!” Rain start to fall and soon Masara becomes a marshland. As for Bakiwos,he is turned into a crocodile.
