DesignBoost NYC is a two-day invitation-only event at the Cooper-Hewitt museum focused on the theme of "Design Beyond Design." The event will feature workshops, lectures, and networking activities to explore moving past outdated consumer-focused design and instead focus on authentic, conscious design that maximizes positive social and environmental impacts. Participants will have the opportunity to share knowledge and ideas to help design flourish and create synergies through collaboration.

DESIGN BEYOND DESIGN DESIGNBOOST NYC You are hereby invited to participate in a special ”Community Boost”, for invited only at DesignBoost;NYC taking place June 15–16 at the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum. DesignBoost NYC consists of 32 BoostChat (workshops), 15 BoostTalks (lectures) and several social networking activities. The theme for DesignBoost NYC is Design Beyond Design For a long time design has manifested an outdated consumer culture. It’s time to see through this dated mindset and identify design’s more important roles. There is a growing demand for authentic, emotive and conscious design. We have to scrutinise our routine-like way of life and design beyond design. Design beyond design is not just about minimising the negative impact on our environment. It is about looking at it from another, more pro-active angle – to work on maximising its positive impact. Consumers want brands that are not only purveyors of goods but agents for good. Design beyond design is about blending different fields of thought to open up and develop new opportunitiies. This means changing the role of design and the designer through the use of hybrid thinking and multi- disciplinary actions. Design beyond design looks to create an atmosphere in which outstanding creativity can flourish. Design beyond design means creating synergies for networking through sharing resources, knowledge and concepts.
