High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) is a form of digital copy protection developed by Intel Corporation to prevent copying of digital audio
and video content as it travels across connections. Types of connections include DisplayPort (DP), Digital Visual Interface (DVI), and High-Definition
Multimedia Interface (HDMI), as well as less popular, or now defunct, protocols like Gigabit Video Interface (GVIF) and Unified Display Interface (UDI).
HDCP devices are generally divided into three categories:
Source
The source sends the content to be displayed. Examples include set-top boxes, DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc players, and computer video cards. A source
has only an HDCP/HDMI transmitter.
Sink
The sink renders the content for display so it can be viewed. Examples include TVs and digital projectors. A sink has one or more HDCP/HDMI receivers.
Repeater
A repeater accepts content, decrypts it, then re-encrypts and retransmits the data. It may perform some signal processing, such as up converting video into
a higher-resolution format, or splitting out the audio portion of the signal. Repeaters have HDMI inputs and outputs. Examples include home theater audio-
visual receivers that separate and amplify the audio signal, while re-transmitting the video for display on a TV. A repeater could also simply send the input
data stream to multiple outputs for simultaneous display on several screens.

Serial digital interface (SDI) is a family of
digital video suites which include:
1. SD-SDI (SMPTE 259M )
2. HD-SDI (SMPTE 292M > 344M)
3. Dual Link HD-SDI (SMPTE 372M or 2K)
4. 3G-SDI (SMPTE 424M)
5. 6G-SDI (SMPTE 2081M or 4K)
6. 12G-SDI (SMPTE ST2082)
7. 24G-SDI (SMPTE ST 2083)
SDI also has 2 levels
Level A: is the direct mapping of an
uncompressed image into a serial digtial
interface operating at a nominal rate of 3Gba
Level B: (Level B-DL) is mapping of ST 372 dual
link date streams into a serial digital interface
operating at a nominal rate of 3Gbs
WARNING BOTH LEVEL A and LEVEL B
MAPPING MODES HAVE SIMILAR CAPABILITES
BUT THEY ARE NOT COMPATIBLE.
Much simpler to remember Black Burst Level A and
Tri-Level Sync Level B is used to synchronize video
signals together to put them on the same timing plane.
This becomes very important when running multiply
cameras and you need to gen-lock the both camera
with a CCU.

SMPTE 424M is a standard published by SMPTE which expands upon SMPTE 259M, SMPTE 344M, and SMPTE 292M, allowing for bit-rates of
2.970 Gbit/s and 2.970/1.001 Gbit/s over a single-link coaxial cable. These bit-rates are sufficient for 1080p video at 50 or 60 frames per
second. The initial 424M standard was published in 2006, with a revision published in 2012 (SMPTE ST 424:2012).Within this standard there
are three formats known as Level A, Level B Dual Link (B-DL) and Level B Dual Stream (B-DS). The Level A format is the direct mapping of
uncompressed 1080p (up to 60 fps) video into a serial digital interface at the nominal 3 Gbit/s. The Level B-DL format is the mapping of dual-
link HD-SDI/SMPTE 372M (i.e.: 1080p up to 60 fps) in a single serial digital interface at the nominal 3 Gbit/s. The Level B-DS format is the
dual-stream carriage of two independent HD-SDI/SMPTE 292M signals (720p up to 60 fps or 1080i/1080p up to 30 fps) in a single serial digital
interface at the nominal 3 Gbit/s.This standard is part of a family of standards that define a Serial Digital Interface; it is commonly known as
3G-SDI.
There are 4 bitrates defined, which are normally used to transfer the following standard video formats:
