Degrees explained
This document provides information about different levels of degrees and alternative entry options available at USQ. It explains that foundation programs, diplomas, English language courses, and Head Start courses are good options for students who don't meet entry requirements for bachelor's degrees or have been out of school for a while. These pathways can provide access to undergraduate study upon completion. Associate degrees are for those who don't meet bachelor's requirements or can't commit to a full bachelor, and the study may be credited towards a bachelor's. Bachelor's degrees provide formal recognition in a chosen field of study, while honours involves additional specialization. Graduate certificates and diplomas allow a taste of postgraduate study without a master's commitment and can enhance careers. Masters

Associate Degree If you don’t meet the entry requirements for a Bachelor program, or if you can’t commit to a full Bachelor straight away, you can start here. You may be eligible to receive credit for your study completed in the Associate Degree into a Bachelor program. Bachelor This will give you formal recognition of study in an area that you are passionate about. Honours An additional level of specialisation. For some areas of study you need to complete Honours study to obtain professional accreditation (e.g. psychology or engineering). Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma If you want to get a taste of postgraduate study without the commitment of a Masters degree, these are great programs. You can often use these programs to enhance your professional standing and increase your career opportunities. Masters At this level, you are a master in your area of interest. Masters study is often used to further enhance your professional position or demonstrate your expertise and commitment to an academic or professional pursuit. Doctorate The highest level of study available. A Doctorate program will not only allow you to put Dr. in front of your name, it will allow you to be recognised as an expert in an area of research you choose to undertake.
