This document presents a portable device for evaluating the cleanliness of fiber optic connectors using image processing and neural networks, aiming to reduce subjective assessments from human operators. The device employs a combination of an optical microscope, digital camera, and sophisticated algorithms to achieve high accuracy in cleanliness evaluation, with a reported Cohen's kappa value of 0.926. It overcomes limitations of existing solutions, offering a cost-effective and portable alternative suitable for fieldwork.
