A digipak is a type of packaging for CDs or DVDs made of cardboard with an internal plastic holder. It usually consists of a gatefold book style design with one or more plastic trays to hold the disc. Digipaks were created by MeadWestvaco and feature photographs of the artist to promote their album and music to audiences. Information included on digipaks are the artist name, album name, track listing, credits, and images related to the artist's theme or genre of music.

- 2. What is a digipak? Digipak is a type of packaging for CDs or DVDs, typically made from cardboard with an internal plastic holder for one or more discs. They usually consist of a gatefold in a book style with paperboard or card outer binding with one or more plastic trays able to hold the CD or DVD. Digipak’s were first created by MeadWestvaco and their product is trademarked however the format became more popular and used by more manufacturers. Now the digipak is commonly used.
- 3. How does a digipak benefit the artist? The front of the digipak will have a photograph of the artist or something relating to one of their songs or the genre of music. This emphasises the artists theme of their album and, like the cover of a novel, promotes this to their target audience. This benefits their promotion of the album, their songs and the music videos which all interlink. This helps to sell the artist and make people interested in an album they have released.
