- 2. Boy in Da Corner was the debut album of grime artist Dizzee Rascal released when he was just 17 years old in 2003. In the UK, it reached 23 on the British albums chart having sold 100,000 copies. By 2004 it had sold over 250,000 copies worldwide and 58,000 in the USA by 2007. A widespread critical success, the album went on to win the Mercury prize for best album from the UK and Ireland.
- 3. Here we can see Dizzee wearing a fully black tracksuit which is typically what his target audience would wear which creates a link between them. The colour of his clothing also matches the colour of font in his name. Here we can see Dizzee sitting in the corner which accompanies and reiterates the name of his album. Dizzee use devil horns which shows his rebellious side which again links with his target audience of grime as young teenagers are stereotypically seen to be defiant or disobedient. His use of yellow gives connotations of energy which links to many of his own songs which have a lot of pace. Yellow also appeals to the eye and grabs attention as its very bright. This is done to attract more customers. The font used in his album is very informal which links to his age and the genre of his music. - 4. Wamp 2 Dem is a mixtape made by British rapper Giggs. This mixtape was released on the 6th October 2017 and is the 5th album released by Giggs. The mixtape includes guest appearances from American rappers 2 Chainz and Young Thug plus many other artists. Giggs described the mixtape as "a response to Americans who criticise UK rap", stating: "People wasn't really respecting England. Wamp 2 Dem was more showing where we're coming.
- 5. Here Giggs uses his own idiolect which converges with his London audience which links with his background of being from London. The cartoon of this face shows his anger towards the criticism received from American rappers about grime. The use of this ‘parental advisory’ icon shows the explicit nature of the album which could be backlash to the criticism Giggs uses very simples colours (black, white and grey) which gives off a very dull or angry image. Giggs’ name is the first thing we see in on the cover which gets our attention as he has made a big name for himself. The font used gives off a sense of informality as it looks like this was handwritten.
- 6. ‘Newly’ would appeal to fans as they want to listen to new songs they haven’t heard before. Release date is the second biggest piece of writing on the advert which informs the reader. Adjective ‘superstar’ attracts customers has he already has a high status. One of the main focuses is Tinie himself which grabs attention of fans as they would recognise his face. This is the exact name and font of the album coming out which informs customers what to look out for. Contrasting colours make him standout.
- 7. This informs customers where this will be available to buy. Included a few well known artists which appeals to other customers. Gives links to social media which will increase popularity. Release date is shown which informs customers when it is available. Writing is also in bold. Urban flats are in the background which links to the working class target audience and his own background. Baggy jeans which links to the genre of hip hop and the mainstream clothing of the time. His name is quite predominant on the advert which appeals to the readers eye.
