This document discusses digital badging and microcredentialing in higher education. It describes a grant project led by Kannan Sivaprakasam, Plamen Miltenoff, and Eugenia Paulus to implement digital badges across courses and institutions. The badges are aimed at improving student career preparedness, enriching curriculum, and facilitating collaboration. So far badges have been awarded in chemistry courses for skills like resume writing and exam scores. The project aims to standardize the badge process, get advisor feedback, create a badge community, and explore credit/fee options. Digital badges can help address challenges in keeping curriculum updated and developing new programs.
