This document describes a digital storytelling task for language classrooms that involves researching and presenting information about the Trujillo era in the Dominican Republic. Students will choose an important figure from that time period or take on the perspective of a character from the novel Antes de ser libres to tell their story. They will conduct research, write a script, storyboard their presentation with images, and create a 4-7 minute digital story using a program like iMovie. They will be evaluated on the quality of their content and presentation, as well as their language use. A separate task involves researching the culture of a Hispanic country and creating a digital story using PhotoStory about an imaginary trip there.
