Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Project Portal A Summary
What is it for? Advance the Hyogo Framework for Action (HFA) goals by facilitating knowledge sharing in Asia and the Pacific on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR). It is an online system for collecting information on DRR projects and programmes being implemented, planned, or having been completed in the Asia Pacific region. To: Improve planning and programming of DRR interventions in the region Identify areas of cooperation among governments, donors ,and regional and national organisations – encourage cross-agency collaboration Assist donors and governments in channelling resources and efforts Understand the regional  DRR landscape in terms of actors and actions Provide a platform to show experience of DRR throughout the region
What are its features? Easy to use Free to register and use your own ‘My Page’ DRR Project List for Asia and the Pacific View project List Search projects View project details Export to Excel Follow links to organisations and donors DRR Frameworks View Roadmaps, Strategies and Plans Download relevant documents DRR Regional Organisations View  regional organisation list and details View list of regional Meetings, Committees, Forums and Networks
What are its features? Project Analysis Graphs View graphs Choose filters Change axes Download graph Maps View project numbers Follow links to project details Select and view risk layers (i.e. cyclone risk, earthquake frequency etc.) Matrix Reports Choose filters to compare coverage of projects, hazards, themes, organisations, donors etc.
Why is it important? If governments, organisations and donors work together  on implementing DRR projects and programmes, they will: Be more effective Be more efficient Be more sustainable Be more holistic Cover a wider area Reach more people   Source:  www.msf.org.uk   Resulting in less economic loss, fewer deaths and injuries, and less livelihood impacts, from natural hazards  = safer communities
