- 1. Resolution FOR DENTON I.S.D. TO INITIATE THE PROCESS OF DESIGNATION AS A DISTRICT OF INNOVATION PURSUANT TO TEXAS EDUCATION CODE, CHAPTER 12A WHEREAS, the Denton I.S.D. Board of Trustees is committed to the success of every child; WHEREAS, the Denton I.S.D. recognizes that as culture, population, and society changes with the passage of time, so too must educational pedagogy; WHEREAS the State of Texas has recently enacted new legislation to enable independent school districts to seek new avenues which are congruous with significant educational benefits for our students and are locally controlled and administered; WHEREAS, in keeping with the Denton I.S.D. Board of Trustees’ long-standing demands for the best and greatest educational benefits of its students and its practice of supporting innovation for the benefit of students; and WHEREAS, Texas Education Code, Chapter 12A requires districts seeking to implement innovative pedagogy to first publically declare such interest and then to hold a public hearing for discussion to consider whether the school district should develop an innovation plan. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Denton Independent School District Board of Trustees on February 9, 2016, does hereby deemed it appropriate, necessary and beneficial to the educational experience of students and staff to initiate the process of exploring and considering designation of the Denton I.S.D. a District as a District of Innovation under Texas Education Code, Chapter 12A. The foregoing Resolution For Denton I.S.D. to Initiate the Process of Designation as a District of Innovation Pursuant to Texas Education Code, Chapter 12A was offered for approval on motion made by ______________, seconded by ________________, and after discussion was adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Denton Independent School District at a regularly scheduled meeting called, posted, and held in Denton, Denton County, Texas, on February ___, 2016, at which ___ Trustees were present, by the following vote: _____ For, _____Against, and _____ Abstaining.
