- #12: The first project by CDS was a three year collaboration with the Ukiah Player’s Theater in Mendocino County, CA. The project made digital stories, a theatrical production involving some 22 participants, and a touring one woman show. The project inspired the beginning of storymapping.org, as the research site fore CDS work in storymapping.
- #13: Joe met Carroll as part of the 2002 project in the Eastside community of San Diego, and invited her to participate in the 2003 Digital Storytelling Festival in Sedona. Carroll presented her award winning The Dawn At My Back DVD. This led to projects in her time in Orlando at the Univ. of Central Florida, which int turn led to linking our shared work in story to the new concept of Storymapping. The Storymapping Third Ward Project grew out of this collaboration.
- #14: In 2008, Carroll joined Joe in a week long residency to create a series of some 21 stories about the history of MacKenzie Court, a public housing community dating back to the post-World War II era that was being re-built. The stories are to be used as part of the new community center’s active digital storytelling program.
- #16: In 2007, Joe worked with Mondo Bizarro, a New Orleans performing arts and media group, to create the Central City tour, with some 24 stories about this neighborhood in transition.
