- 1. Documentation What is it? Why do you need it? Ideas generation This is when you develop and create ideas which can be in video format, or can be picture format. This process includes different ideas and concepts which you should be able to do create and do in real life. This documentation is needed to see if it possible you can produce the idea and what improvements you can make and do. It allows producers to see different ways how to visually film something and which can work better. Proposal This is when you propose something but it has to meet the requirements and the goals of who you are proposing to. This documentation outlines all the things the producer has to follow when filming. The document would have a clear narrative structure, age rating for the film, to follow all laws and not break any but also many more. Script This is when you write a script for some video format for an actor/actress toread and follow during set to so they know what to say and do while acting. This documentation used so when on set the director knows what shot to use and the actors are in the correct places and they will also rehearse the lines for the film. Storyboard A visual shot by shot plan of the film or a section of the film, containing a visual plan, timings, information about shot movement and movement within the shot, diagetic and non-diagetic sound, special and visual effects and editing. 1. It provides a visualisation of your written plans – what do you think your ideas are going to actually look like through a lens. 2. It organises a scene in a script very specifically into shots rather than narrative beats 3. It allows you to effectively time the different shots – based on how much content there is in the shot – and so lets you consider in more detail the pace of the scene 4. It allows you to make sure that you are paying attention to the grammar of a scene – the 180 Rule, the use of Shot/Reverse POV/Shot (the Kuleshov Effect), line of sight shooting…
- 2. 5. It allows you to check the logistics of your planned movement within the shot and of camera movement within the shot 6. It allows you to plan for the use of sound – both diagetic and non-diagetic – within the shot 7. It allows you to plan the editing linking shots 8. Along with a production script it provides a detailed blueprint for the departments managing the practical aspects of production planning – costume, location, props… Lighting Plans This is documentation is used for the crew member so he knows where the light will go and how it will have to be set up and it will make things easier for the director. This is very serious documented because if this has not been put in place crew members will not know where to put the lights and it will waste a long time because everyone is unsure what to do and also if put lights in the wrong places this will cause a health and safety problem. Production Schedule This is a documentation which shows all crew members jobs and things to do in the week and the different services used. It will also the different locations that you will be going to. This is another important documentation because this will make sure all the crew to know what they are doing where they are and by doing this it will make the environment to work in more safe and easier to work in. Location Recce This is to see if a location is to safe to film in and if it is not they can change locations to where it is safe or even follow rules to make it safe for filming. This is also another important documentation because if it not the safest places to film and that makes everyone in danger so there has to be clear rules set out while filming in that location. Risk Assessment This is needed because it shows all the risks around different sets so all crew members will know where it is safe and where It is not. It also shows where it safe to film. This is a very important documentation as it identify’s all the risks and how much of high chance has it got of it happening. The risks assessment will also help crew members so they know where to stand and what to do when a risk does occur.
- 3. Budget This is to show how much money you have to spend during a project you are making. This is important to have because you can see how much money you have to spend how much you have to spend so it keeps you disciplined when buying things for your project. Call Sheets A call sheet shows where the cast members are meant to be during the day of filming and when they are needed and for how long this will be done every day. This will be needed in production because it will help directors know where actors are and when they will be called in set to film this makes easier for all crew members. Equipment Booking Forms This is a document is to show what equipment has been booked and how long for. This is important for the production team so they can see each crew member has taken and for how long so the production team know what has been taken. Contributor Release Forms This form is an actor agreeing to part of your production film so they will have to sign a film and legally they can do nothing about it if not signed they have the right to not to put on the internet. This is a very important form to sign so the actor legally cant do nothing and the movie can be published if it is not signed they have the right to not to publish but you will be breaking the rules and regulations as it should be the first thing done.
