VSAT satellite technology has a role to play in the growing Internet of Things (IoT) by providing global coverage for connectivity. Maritime vessels and commercial airplanes are increasingly using sensors and cloud services to improve operations and maintenance using data captured over VSAT links. High-throughput satellites and new low Earth orbit constellations will expand satellite capacity to over 10 terabits per second, allowing for both low-speed and higher-speed IoT links. Satellite operators can leverage this new capacity and coverage to extend IoT services to current customers globally.
