Equinix is building a new data center, LD6, in London Slough to meet continued customer demand. LD6 will provide over 8,000 square meters of colocation space with over 1,000 fiber connections and aim for gold LEED energy efficiency certification. Equinix utilizes innovative cooling technologies at LD6 like indirect evaporative cooling and rainwater harvesting to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint. Phase 1 of LD6 is set for launch in Q1 2015 with initial cabinet capacity of 1,385.

This will contribute to LD6 having lower energy consumption and a smaller carbon footprint than other facilities of its kind. • Over 85% free cooling to data halls from the use of indirect evaporative cooling AHUs with an annual average PUE of 1.2. • Rainwater harvesting will reduce mains water consumption of AHUs. A bore hole to underground water source will reduce the impact and dependence upon local distribution networks. • Natural ventilation will be used within the LD6 office building. • High efficiency heating/cooling plant for FOH and Logistics buildings, including heat pumps for LTHW.
