- 1. Draft of article Holly has created a rebellious, hard outside shell to protect herself but on the inside she is far from nasty. The most import-ant part of Holly is her passion for music and her determination to strive hard for what she wants to accomplish. Holly surely knows her roots; she is proud of where she used to live and wouldn’t change it for the world. Once you get though the ‘hard shell’ you begin to see the real Holly for who she really is. She is a true family girl who supports her family and friends every step of the way. Whist Holly and her team had a tea break we caught up with Holly to discuss her hit sensation ‘Dreams and regret’. This has had the whole world talking about the ‘new girl of 2014’. How does it feel to be classed as ‘new girl 2014’? You know what, it feels absolutely amazing. I never thought for one second i would have made it. I am blessed to have such a lovely family who believed in me from the beginning. I mean look at me now, I’ve had a conversation with Beyoncé not many people can say that! Your single ‘Dreams and Regret’ has caused a stir, what made you write it? Well my dream was to become the person i am today. I was bullied in my high school days for being different and the worst thing i regret is i actually let it happen. I let people bully me because i didn’t ‘fit in’ Now i don’t give a s**t what people think, i am who i am and nobody will ever change that. I wrote the single to reach out to individuals who are getting bullied because at the end of the day you need to be the bigger person. Hang on to your dreams and make people regret they ever doubted you. Is image important for the music industry? Definitely! Being nice gets you nowhere in this industry. It is literally a competition of who the best looks and who can sell the most singles. I’m lucky i dress and look like an indie artist otherwise I’d have no chance. Have you had any advice from any big artists? Lots of people try but never succeed. I’m not one for advice, I am my own person. At the end of the day it’s my career and I’ll do what i want with it. If people don’t like it then screw them. You mentioned Beyoncé, are you a big fan of her? Of course independent woman which is what I love the most about her. She is such an Inspirational woman and literally lives up to her nickname ‘Queen B’. I was so lucky to meet
- 2. her at the MTV awards; I couldn’t believe i was stood so close! I really hope one day i will live up to be just like her. How did it feel to break the record for the amount of views in 24 hours? I was so shocked! It has been one of my ultimate dreams to become a successful artist and now that time has come I’m Gobsmacked. I didn’t know until my friends were texting me to look at my views on YouTube i just thought they were having a laugh! It means so much That people have taken a few minutes out of their day to listen to ‘Dreams and Regret’. I posted the audio purely for a confidence boost just to see what people thought. Will we be seeing an album from you soon then? Hopefully within this year. I am currently working with my record label on my album. It’s so exciting! I feel so grown up, half the time I have to pinch myself to make sure it isn’t a dream! I am so lucky to be having this opportunity but I believe that if you hard at what you love, one day the hard work will pay off. Surely there must be a tour on the horizon? Let’s not get ahead of ourselves now! (Laughs). In a few years’ time then maybe but at the minute I am still adjusting to the fame. It’s mad just last year i was a nobody; I can’t even walk into the supermarket without my fans noticing me it’s crazy! Don’t get me wrong I would love nothing more than performing on stage to true fans that love me for who I am but I just don’t have the time just yet. My life is crazy at the minute but I wouldn’t change it for the world. “I’m not one for advice, I am my own person”
