Drupal has the potential to become the dominant content management system for the web, running on 20% or more of websites. However, it currently faces challenges in being too difficult to set up, use, develop on and scale. Its strengths lie in its thriving ecosystem, modular architecture and status as a top open source project. For Drupal to achieve dominance, it will need improved products that are easier to use and available as a service, while the ecosystem continues to grow. This could help Drupal play a role in expanding internet access and data sharing worldwide.
