Getting Started
 What is Publisher?
 Creates professional looking publications.
 Allows you to create newsletters, brochures,
calendars, flyers and much more.
 Open Publisher
 Double-Click on the Publisher 2010 icon on
the desktop

Opening a new document
 To open a new
document; go to file, and
click on new.
 Select from the list of
available templates such
as brochures, banners,
menus, postcard, etc.
 Each template as
available default layouts
that you can chose from
or make your own.
 Once a template is
picked it will open up a
new window.

Drawing a Text Box
 Allows you to add text to the publication
 Go to the insert tab, and click the Draw Text
Box button.
 The arrow will change to a +; this enables
you to manipulate the box.

Inserting Images
 To add pictures from your own computer
 On the Home tab, click the Picture button.
 Select the location of the picture (i.e. Desktop, My
Pictures, etc.)
 Click on the picture you want and than click insert.
 To add Clip Art
 On the Insert tab, click on the Clip Art button.
 Type in the search box for the type of Clip Art you want,
click go.
 To insert the Clip Art into the publication, click on the
thumbnail

Creating Shapes
 On the Home tab,
click the Shapes
button.
 A list of shapes will
appear, click on the
shape you would like
to use.
 Click on a shape to
apply it to the
document; drag and
move the mouse
around to change the
size of the shape.

Saving and Finalizing
Publication
 Use the “Save As” feature when saving
a new publication
 Click the File tab, then click Save As
○ This will allow you to name the publication and
change file format
 Use the “Save” feature after editing the
publication.
