A germ-killing robot called TRU-D uses ultraviolet light to destroy viruses like Ebola by modifying their DNA structure so they cannot reproduce or infect patients. The robot calculates how long is needed to disinfect a room based on its size and contents. Another robot called Xenex also uses UV light to quickly eliminate Ebola and other pathogens to prevent their spread in hospitals and protect staff from infection. Ebola is a deadly hemorrhagic fever spread through contact with infected animals, blood, or secretions that causes flu-like symptoms and sometimes internal and external bleeding. There is no vaccine or cure currently available.
