- 4. SUN It is the center of the solar system It is a star- a hot ball of glowing gas
- 5. Other Planets(in from the sun) Mercury Venus Earth Mars Jupiter Saturn Uranus Neptune
- 6. Revolution Definition: Going around an object once The Earth revolves around the sun. Each time the Earth revolves around the sun = ONE YEAR Rotation Definition: spinning around or turning all the way around on an axis one time The Earth rotates on its axis (the north and south poles) Each time the Earth rotates around = ONE DAY
- 7. Axis Is an imaginary line that goes through the North and South Poles Earth rotates on its axis
- 8. Earth’s Rotation Every 24 hours the Earth rotates (spins on its axis) This is what causes day and night Earth rotates counter clockwise
- 9. Earth’s Revolution Every year (365 days) is one revolution of the Earth around the Sun This is what causes the different seasons

- 13. Moon Phases Phases are the different shapes the moon seems to have in the sky. Moon goes through all its phases in 29 ½ days There are 7 phases to the moon Most common phases are: Full moon New moon
