Electric Imp is a hardware platform that allows developers to control small devices using a browser-based IDE. The platform features an ARM processor, WiFi connectivity, GPIO pins for analog/digital I/O and communication protocols. Code is written in the Squirrel programming language and can interface with hardware as well as build web servers and make outgoing requests. Documentation and free developer kits are available, and the company is hiring for various roles.

- 3. Platform • Browser Based IDE – No need to install a tool chain • Push Code Over Wifi – No need for drivers / JTAG programmers • impOS abstracts low level coding – No worries about network stack, security, etc 3
- 4. Code • Squirrel – Object Oriented – Interpreted – Event Driver • Write server and device code in same language – APIs for talking to hardware (pins, I2C, etc) – APIs for building web servers (similar to Node.js) – APIs for making outgoing web requests 4
