The ART of ESOL Delivery
Overall Objectives
 To promote language acquisition for English as an additional language and English for academic purposes in
students.
 To explore the language learning process.
 To develop a bank of practical, field-tested, creative ESOL/EFL lessons.
 To create continuity and progression in the use and support of the required curriculum.
 To provide an opportunity for teachers to gain skills necessary for second/foreign language teaching.
 To incorporate level-appropriate ESL teaching strategies to direct student learning
 To enhance instruction in Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking toward performance goals in language
proficiency assessments.
 To examine language proficiency through the Common European Framework Reference (CEFR).
 To use ESOL field-tested techniques from our English for Academic Purposes Program
 To work towards creating independent language users.
 To support Professional Learning communities in each AKD school.
