Calculators Permitted
Part 2 Review
1.) a.) Find the sale price of a shirt that is normally $30 and is on sale for 70% off.
b.) Find the final price after a 7% sales tax is added.
2.) Two students measured length the same soccer field that is the regulation size of 115 yards.
a.) Student A measured the field as 112 yards. Find the percent error for Student A and
round to the tenth.
b.) Student B measured the field as 119 yards. Find the percent error for Student B and
round to the nearest tenth.
c.) Who was more accurate?
3.) a.) When Joe graduated from high school, he weighed 160 pounds. After college, he
weighed 192 pounds. What is the percent increase of his weight during college?
b.) Sally is 20 years old, which is 60% less than her father’s age. What is her father’s age?
4.) You have $2,500 to spend on a trip to Great Adventure for your youth group. The tickets
cost $55.50 per person. Transportation costs $350 and the tolls will cost $40. What is the
greatest amount of tickets you can purchase? Write, solve, and graph an inequality to
represent this situation.
Let x = the number of tickets
Inequality:

5.) I want to put a paver border around my rectangular pool. I know I will need 280 feet
of pavers. The length of the pool is 30 feet longer than the width. Write and solve an
equation to find the width and length of my pool.
Pool Equation:
Let:
Width = __________
Length = __________
Part 1 Review
1.) You put $350 into your savings account. Your bank account offers a 2.5%
interest rate and you leave the money in the account for 4 years. How much
interest did you earn?
Remember: I =PRT
I= Interest
P = Principal (Original Amount of Money)
R= Interest Rate (Percent)
T = Time (Matches time of R)
2.) Over 7 years you earned $420 in interest. If you had a 2% interest rate, what
was your principal?
3.) Solve the following two-step inequality.
-3x - 5 > 13
4.) Factor the following expression: 3x + 27
5.) What is 12% written as a fraction?
6.)
a.) 20 is what percent of 160?
b.) What is 35% of 70?
7.) At the school bake sale, you sell 48 cookies for $36. What point on the graph
would represent the unit rate?
8.) Subtract the following: (-8x - 10) – (-3x – 18)
9.) Simplify the following expressions:   xx 51612
4
1

10.) What is the distance between -16 and -4 on a number line?
11.) A map uses a scale where 1 inch is 8 miles in real life. If two towns are 68
miles apart, what distance apart would they be on the map?
