Engineers invent new actuating material that can replace motors in future robots

Researchers at the University of Hong Kong have developed a new shape memory polymer material that is able to change its shape in response to different environmental conditions such as temperature, moisture, or pH levels. This novel material could be used to create actuators for soft robotics or biomedical devices as it is flexible, lightweight and can perform multi-shape memory effects with high strength.
