Types of Essay Writing Definition Essay  – Where a key word or key idea is defined from different points of View  Comparative and Contrastive Essays  – Two or more persons, places, ideas, opinions are compared and contrasted Classificatory Essays  – Here separate things or ideas are put in different categories Descriptive Essays  – Here descriptions of different aspects are given for a person, place or a particular thing.
Types of Essay Writing Discursive Essays  – Choice is made among different opinions, ideas and objects preference for one is satisfied Evaluative Essays  – Based on certain criteria the evaluation of people, places or things is done Reflective Essays  – It consists of reflections  or thoughts on some topic which is generally of an abstract nature
