Before the narrator leaves the signalman s box the signalman promises to tell the narrator what has
been troubling him. If you ever make another visit, I will tell you .
This suggests that the signalman is scared of something that he isn t sure he is ready to tell because
he is telling the narrator on his second visit.
When the narrator returns to the signalman s box a second time the signalman tells the narrator
what is troubling him he says that he ran into the tunnel because a figure shouted Halloa, below
there! Look out! when the signalmen ran into the tunnel he saw figures so he ran back out No, I
ran on into the tunnel, five hundred yards. I stopped, and held my lamp above my head, and saw
the figures of the measured distance, and saw the wet stains stealing down the walls and trickling
through the arch. The word figure suggest that the signalman doesn t think what he saw was
human because otherwise would have used the word man. This gives a effect of mystery because
the reader doesn t know what the signalman saw. The word trickling suggests that the tunnel is wet,
damp and eerie. This is typical of the gothic genre because the fact that it is wet suggests that it has
been bad weather and stormy. The signalman then explains to the narrator how dead people were
brought over where he had seen the figure. within six hours after the appearance the memorable

Acid-Base Titration Lab Report

Acid Base Titration Lab Write up
Introduction:
Titration is the process of adding measured volumes of a base or acid with a known concentration to
an acid or base with an unknown concentration in order to determine the unknown concentration.
Volume measurements play an important role in titration. It involves measuring the exact volume of
a solution with a known concentration that will react with a measured volume of a solution that has
an unknown concentration. The solution that has a known concentration is called a standard
solution. Acid base titration is based on neutralization that occurs in the reaction. If a base is
added to an acid until the acid is neutralized, then the moles of base and the moles of acid will be
equal. In other words, the moles of H+ ions must equal the number of moles of OH ions. The
following equation can be used to calculate the unknown molarity of an acidic or basic solution:
(Molarity of the acid) * (Volume of the acid) = (Molarity of the Base) * (Volume of the Base) or
MaVa = MbVb. Equivalence point is when there is enough of the standard solution to neutralize the
unknown solution.
The endpoint is when the indicator changes color. The difference between the equivalence point
and the endpoint is that the equivalence point is when the pH of the solution is 7 which means that
it is neutral. However, the endpoint is when the indicator turns either white which shows that the
solution is acidic or pink which

Testing Is A Waste Of Class Time
Does ISTEP plus benefit the students of 9th and 10th grade? Or is it just another test that we as
a whole have to waste time on? The expansion of ISTEP to the 9th and 10th grade is
inconsequential. It gives us more tests to anguish about, stressing everyone out including
classmates, teachers, parents, and ourselves. Spending 10 hours on testing is a waste of class
time when we need to be learning, and actually worrying about our class work, instead of taking a
test. ISTEP plus is not the best option for our schools, its wasting time for our class work, making
our lives stressful, and spending money on a test that half of our state is going to fail.

(Jim). Pence on the other hand is doing some good, he signed two bills that protect teachers and

they can be used if the scores would help the evaluation (Claire). That s great of them to help the
teachers and the school s reputation as a whole, but they re forgetting the biggest part of this, the
students.
The time span that this test takes up is ridiculous, not only do we have to make up the things we
missed in class for this test, but also we also have to stress about this for a month before it comes
up, and also worry about classwork we missed, and whether or not we passed it. Life its self is
stressful, and they put this test on us at the last moment. Freshmen and sophomores didn t know
this was coming in time. 31 million dollars goes to this test, which money can go to something
way more important than a test. Save animals from poachers, or save starving children, and you
don t even have to go that far. Indiana needs some work for the hungry, the roads, helping women
that are pregnant all the way to an orphan. This test is not worth 31 million dollars, or even 1 hour
of time. These students aren t stupid, they know these things, its just these students do not want to

For Many people think that the bomb was necessary to help end the war and convince the Japanese

consequences of using the bombs. Prevented Further Injury The people who argue that the bomb

Japanese civilian and American soldiers deaths and injury in an invasion of Japan which was being

the design and construction of a house in this modern world. I intend to focus on the engineer and
construction workers collaboration towards the completion of a perfect house. In this case, I will
be both the engineer and construction worker as I am going to design my floor plan and transform

The Dream Of The American Dream
The American dream has been a beacon of hope and motivation for the millions of people who
have immigrated and grown up in the United States; especially for those of the lower class.
Through hard work and determination one could completely change their life for the better
while provide better circumstances for future generations. The American dream is defined as, a
happy way of living that is thought of by many Americans as something that can be achieved by
anyone in the U.S. especially by working hard and becoming successful (The American Dream).
Today, youth of the lower class are finding this dream to be nearly impossible to achieve, even by
working hard. For many it has become nothing more than a pipe dream. The American dream is
still alive, but it is on it s final breath; especially for the poor youth of America.
In the past, people s dream of working hard, affording a nice house and providing for your family
was easily attained. Today, to get a good paying job, requires having a high schooldiploma, a
college degree, and at least two years experience in that field of work. Except for a high school
diploma, these qualifications are extremely difficult to meet as a child coming from a lower
income background. In the past, jobs did not always require a college degree. An individual
would get a low level job in a big company right out of high school. Through hard work and
ambition an individual could get promoted and receive a higher wage. All of those steps lead to big

A Discussion Of The Old And New Testaments Essay

While the dominant trend in Old Testamenttheology has been either to neglect wisdom literature
or to consider it to be outside the mainstream of Israelite faith, some scholars have offered
important insights into both the theology of the sages and how it relates to the larger biblical
theology. We begin with the place of wisdom in several of the leading presentations of Old
Testament Theology since the Second World War, and then move on to the different approaches to
understanding the theology of the sages by contemporary wisdom scholars.

Argumentative Essay On Religious Discrimination
Religious Discrimination Discrimination, a word that can meet quite a lot, there are many
different types of discrimination some of course are harsher than others. There s just one type of
discrimination that has been on the rise for some time now, and that s persecution. Persecution just
means bad treatment simply because of race, political, or religious beliefs. The area that has been
hit over and over for some time is religious persecution. A very sad but true reality for many people
having to hide to worship their beliefs. The most persecuted religionin the world may come to a
shock to some people, but the most persecuted religion is Christianity. Followed by Islam, and third
is Judaism. Christianity is the most popular religion in the United States, but is the least popular
worldwide. To put it in perspective, Christians are persecuted in over 130 countries for just their
beliefs. To add on to that, each month about 322 Christians are killed, along with that each month
214 Christian churches and properties are destroyed. Out of all the religions in the world, none are
more persecuted than Christians, with all of this in mind it s something else when most people
have no idea of this at all. Through several surveys I found that 7 out of 10 people thought that
other religions such as Islam and Judaism are more persecuted than Christians. Why is it that as
popular as Christianity is in the United States, that there is so little people that accurately know

Representative Peter DeFazio s Party Unity Score Discussion
In 2013, Rep. Peter DeFazio s (D, OR 4) party unity score was 94% (Weyl, 183). Party unity as
defined in the textbook, Congress and Its Members, are votes in which the majority of voting
Republicans oppose a majority of voting Democrats. In other words, average votes Peter DeFazio
casted with the Democratic majority against the Republican majority. Furthermore, party affiliation
as well as ideological positions, and the constituency pressure are strongly correlated with
congressmen s votingdecisions (Davidson, Oleskek, Lee 2014, 255). The roll callvote that I chose
to calculate the party unity score of Rep. DeFazio was the roll call vote named Disaster
Supplement Fish and Wildlife Construction. This roll call concerned a bill named Super Storm
Sandy Disaster Aid. The purpose of the roll call was to determine if hinder funding for the Fish
and Wildlife Service (FWS) to repair seawalls and buildings on wildlife refuges that are damaged
by a natural disaster. The reduction of funds to the FWS by $9.8 million was another main point
of the roll call vote. This roll call voting would determine how much funding would be provided
to FWS to help the communities affect by Hurricane Sandy as well as other damaged wildlife
refuges across the nation. In this issue, Rep, DeFazio voted nay along with 189 Democrats.

For current assets for each of the following three years, we are projecting the same percentage of
32% of sales. Assets that are constantly flowing in and out of a organization in the normal
course of its business as cash converted into goods and then back into cash show small growth if
any, in periods of time. The assets that are expected to last or be in use for less than one year
will also show the small growth if any due their usage life expectancy. Because of these facts of
our current assets, we will continue to use the projected 32% of sales as in previous years. Because
this projection served correctly in previous years, we will again use it for the next three years. This
decision is based on past accurateness and the consistency of the company.

Midst Of Weakness Essay
God: There in the Midst of Weakness It was my senior year of high school in the small town of
Gardendale, Alabama. This was the year the girls varsity soccer team was expected to go all the
way to the finals, and make a hard run at the state championship title. We had made it to the third
round, and after this game we were heading north to Huntsville, Alabama for the quarter finals.
Except, in an instant, this all changed after one practice, two days before our game, when our
principal showed up with some heartbreaking news. We no longer had a shot at the championship
title because someone on our team had broken the rules; therefore, we had been kicked out of the
playoffs. This filled me with anger, hatred, and resentment towards that one person. I became a
very bitter version of myself until God showed me a new path to walk down in the following
week. My story beings on the Friday night before our first playoff game. My dad asked me to go
to our city soccer fields to get a corner flag for the game tomorrow at the school. When I got to
the fields one of my best friends texts me and says, Hey! Are high school players allowed to play
on teams other than the high school team? I was confused. No they are definitely not, but was
she talking about one of my teammates or someone we were supposed to play against? I storm
out onto the field to see if I know who is breaking such a big rule and my mind is blown when I
see one of my own teammates out on the field playing. So much is running through my mind, Do
I say something to her? Do I tell my coach? What will this do to our chances of playing in the
championship? All these thoughts, yet I stand on the field frozen from anger at the fact that this
person thinks it s okay to break a rule in order to benefit herself. So I did what anyone like me
would do and I confronted her, Do you really think it is okay that you are out here playing when
our high school season is still going on? She stares at me with no emotion on her face, says
absolutely nothing, and just walks away acting as if she had done no wrong. I left the fields that
night with all those questions about what to do still circling about in my mind and some new
thoughts popping up, I am the only

The And Nesbitt s Research
There are many different religions in the world that allow women to hold some type of leadership
position; there are also many where women are not allowed to hold such positions. With different
countries there are different popular religions that change how that society views women, not only
in religious settings but outside of worship. Lummis and Nesbitt s research help understand the
sociology of women in the clergy. Davison and Sargeant s research correlates with women the
clergy by discussing how they change public culture. Women in the clergy have a positive effect on
society because they represent how women can excel in leadershippositions in the community.
Lummis and Nesbitt discuss how women achieve powerful positions but remain pastors or
assistants in rural communities and don t move up in pastoral system to larger congregations
(Lummis 446). They do contribute a consistent and steady leadership role for these congregations
over time, however they are not exposing other congregations to having women clergy (Lummis
446). By discussing this lack of progression Lummis and Nesbitt introduce their audience to a basic
struggle for women in the clergy. Their evidence affects the audience s emotions by creating
imagery for women stuck in rural areas because they are unable to find employment elsewhere.
When discussing women in the clergy, Nesbitt states [Women are] trying to effect systemic changes

Aztec And Mayans Similarities
The Mayans and Aztecs are well known early Amerindian civilizations. Their background, culture,

Moreover these early civilization were similar, yet differed in numerous ways. The Mayans

Creationism Vs Evolutionism Essay
Evolutionism vs Creationism has been one of the largest ongoing debates ever since Charles
Darwin threw his theory on the table. So far, neither argument has enough evidence to be proven,
yet we still teach one as fact in public education. Every genesis is dependent on trust and
acceptance. Religious theories, such as Creationism, require a belief in an intelligent God or in
gods, which can neither be proved nor disproved. Evolutionrequires faith in chance, time, and
natural selectionto explain the precision tuned conditions that make Earth perfect for life. The
Big Bang concept requires acceptance of something we cannot see (See Space.com or Universe
Today). Today, evolution is one of main geneses being taught in public education. It has, however,
several holes that are often avoided when taught. Let s just take a look at the origin of life. Life
could not have started in the presence of oxygen, like that in our atmosphere. Evolutionists claim
earth s early atmosphere was void of oxygen. Scientific evidence today shows that earth s early
atmosphere may have had even more oxygen than today. Even allowing that theory, without oxygen
there would be no ozone and, without ozone, life would have burnt from the ultraviolet radiation.
To account for this, evolutionists say life started underwater. The water would have quickly split
the molecules of any proteins that formed. Furthermore, of the 2,000 amino acids that exist, only
around 20 are used in life. Every amino acid in proteins... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is even more at the Answers in Genesis website. Creationists do not have all the answers,
either. Nor do they have scientific evidence that can prove whether God exists or not. In the light of
this obscurity, other genesis possibilities should be taught in public education and included in
standardized tests. In such an information oriented world, why would we want to keep information

Elton John s Song Ticking
Ticking is one of Elton John s most powerful and under rated songs. Bernie Taupin, Elton s song
writer, wrote the words why Elton wrote the music, and together they created a song that presents
a strong statement. It is a story about a fictional young man who is seemingly normal, but in the
end, he snaps and unleashes his carnage. For a song released in 1974, years before mass
shootings like Columbine, Aroura, and Orlando, it is eerie that it can relate to so many mass
shooting that have happened in the past few years. Elton and Bernie are giving a warning in this
song that, as a society, we should focus on trying to reduce gunviolence and focus more on mental
health.
Looking at the title, Ticking may not immediately mean anything, but once you dig into the lyrics
of the song it becomes clear. It refers to a young man who is seemingly normal and very quiet,
however in the end he snaps. Ticking is being used as a metaphor to represent the young man who
appears normal but is slowly getting closer to the breaking point.

The Problem Of New Mexico

crime rates after the three strikes law was enacted in the state. The drastic increase in crime rate
after the three strikes law was passed is one of the few reasons why New Mexico city to be known
as a second hazardous nation in the United States. In New Mexico, the three strikes law is mainly
only enforced for five specific strikes where the city policeand court will be able to take an action

Creativity can be described as the ability to bring something into existence; into being. Having said
that, nobody really knows exactly what it is: Creative moments can mysteriously show up in certain
situations and in context, while it can also fail when really needed.
From studies neurologists say that creativity paints a complex picture. The idea that the right brain
is where creativity happens with emotions while the left brain is based on rational, analytical and
logical thought is oversimplified. It has not yet been clearly established what happens during the
creative cognitive processes with respect to neural pathways.
However, psychologically speaking, there are certain personality traits or characteristics that define
a creative person. Researcher Scott Barry Kaufman at the Psychology department of New York
University says, in so many words, one major feature of the creative person is that they are more
complex individuals than the non creative... because of this he went on to

As part of this, a project manager along with his/her team will look for people who are affected by
the project, who have influence or power over it, or have an interest in its successful completion.
They must make sure that they identify the correct individual stakeholders within a stakeholder

Some of the qualities that one would look for in a stakeholder are:
Ability to impact the project
Ability to enhance the project
Ability to remove impediments
Ability to lead opinions

2.Insurance agents
3.Zonal managers

The Tempest Power
In Shakespeare s play The Tempest, the usurpation of power is a big theme. Even the opening
scene introduces power struggles among the noblemen and sailors. We learn that the former
Duke of Milan Prospero s power was usurped by his brother, Antonio. Finally, Antonio advises
Sebastian, the King of Naples s brother, to follow suit. These complex power dynamics might
be caused by a difference in opinion. Everyone has their own vision of ideal government, and
everyone is greedy for power; a deadly combination. While there are many systems of
government, I will be explaining the royal adviser Gonzalo s system and how it compares to the
Prospero s ruling when he held power. These systems have much in common, but they also vary

Gonzalo explains that if he held power of the island, [he] would by contraries / ExГЁcute all
things. (2.1.144 5) He knows that his system is contrary to how the majority of leaders rules.
Since his opinion is not popular, we immediately have reason to be skeptical of his ideas. He
insists on a society where Letters should not be known; riches, poverty, / And use of service,
none. (2.1.147 8) By eliminating class (riches and poverty) as well as education (letters), he hopes
to create a free society where citizens wouldn t need to worry about the impact of their actions, but
only on their personal fulfillment. All the better, in his opinion, that his subjects do not work, since
the land would provide everything they need: All things in common nature should produce
/ Without sweat or endeavor. (2.1.156 7) Without any human effort, his natural order of government
will collapse. His system is similar to libertarianism because both of these systems seek to give the
government a smaller role and maximize individual choice. As in anarchism, everyone is free to do
as they wish without the establishment of an organized government or labor force. This idyllic
commonwealth is a nice thought, but there is a major hole in his logic. Antonio points out that
[t]he latter end of his commonwealth forgets the beginning. (2.1.154) Antonio means that Gonzalo
s first proposition, that he be the King on t, contradicts his last since very society he hopes to build
would be run without name of magistrate. Without a government, being the king is meaningless,
especially since Gonzalo believes the isle itself will bring forth / Of it ... all abundance. (2.1.159

Treatment includes forms of therapy like psychotherapy and drugs depending on the severity of
depression. Family and friends are important in recovery of depressed individuals by offering
support needed to follow prescriptions and support during recovery. Depressive disorders are
diverse, but they all affect the wellbeing of individuals in relation to their work, social relations,
and education needs (NIH, 2015).
Depressive Disorder
Concept
Every once in a while an individual experiences sadness and blue moods however they pass after
some time and the person resumes their life. Depressive disorders are characterized by sadness
and loss of interest in things that were once pleasurable (APA, 2013). In contrast to a mood that
goes away a person suffering from depressive disorders experience persistent episodes of
sadness. Depressive disorders in contrast to a bad mood affect the mental and physical
functioning of a person and cause deterioration in those functions. Depressive disorders change
the thinking, feelings and behavior of the affected person and they can become a threat to
themselves and others (Olfson et al. 2005). People snap out of bad moods, but individuals
suffering from depressive disorders are sick and need medical attention. Depressive disorders are
common, and they vary from individual to individual in symptoms and behavior. The symptoms
will vary among males, females, young, elderly and even children. Depressive disorders are

cost is used in its calculation. Cost of debt is calculated by multiplying the before tax rate by one
minus the marginal tax rate. As given in the Silicon Valley case assignment handout, SIVMED s
long term debt consists of 9.5% coupon, semiannual payment bonds with 15 years to maturity.
The bonds last traded at a price of $891.00 per $1,000 par value bond. Given this data, SIVMED s
cost of debt is calculated at 6.6% .
It is often questionable as to whether flotation costs are included in the calculation of a firms cost
of debt. Flotation costs are the costs associated with the issuance of new securities. These costs
should be included in this calculation. For debt, however, this value is usually ignored because it is
very small and does not have a significant affect on the outcome of the calculation. Also, when

The Message of the Gettysburg Address
The Message of the Gettysburg Address
In 1863, the sixteenth President of the United States found himself engulfed by a horrific civil war
and in leading his people to victory, Abraham Lincoln found himself in a predicament that required
a well thought out motivational presentation. He found that opportunity with the address at
Gettysburg. President Lincoln knew his people were dissatisfied with the loss of so many
comrades and knew there must be a way he could prove that the lives of so many fallen soldiers,
husbands, and sons were worth the efforts to restore the land of the free. The statement made in the
Gettysburg Address to the people was a perfect example and in essence the embodiment of perfect
communication.

Anglican Communion And Episcopal Communion
Recently, the Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church have been in a lengthy and complex
disagreement regarding the role of the lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual members of the
church body and to what lengths the church should go in order to accept all the different sexual
orientations within its congregation. The Anglican Communionand the Episcopal Churchhave
completely disagreed on the Communions core doctrine during this debate and have not come even
close to creating a resolution. Disciplinary actions have been taken toward the Episcopal Church by
the Anglican Communion in hopes for a withdrawal, but the Episcopalians have promised to stand
firm on their very and beliefs for equality for all sexual orientations. Due to the recent conflicts
between the Anglican Communion and the Episcopal Church, the Episcopal Church must disband
from the Anglican Communion in the near future in order to maintain on the path of its calling of
loving and supporting the lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual members. In January of 2016, The
Anglican Communion suspended the Anglican Communion from its right to participate in the
decision making process in the Communion because of its public support and acceptance of the
lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual church members and their marriages within the church
(King). But this movement started awhile before the punishment when the Episcopal Church took a
daring public stand for its belief in equal rights for all sexual

I Am Hard-Personal Narrative
I VE LEARNED Due to my comparatively insignificant age, I haven t learned many Oprah
worthy lessons in my life. Although I am young, I feel that a certain lesson in particular has been
key to my small but important successes. I ve learned that working hard will demand your respect
no matter who you are. I continue to apply this life long lesson on the wrestling mats with my
coaches at every meet, practice, and free time.
It was the Bend City Championships (wrestling). My palms were sweaty, my face tomato red, and
my heart was pounding, due to the 7 testosterone filled, middle school boys, in my bracket. Luckily,
I had my best wrestling ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I began to bounce eagerly (to warm up your body before a match) as my eyes darted from my
giggling opponent Lazarus, to my feet. My coaches from both teams each came by with a small
pep talk and left me to focus on my own.
Charli and Lazarus! our future ref shouted impatiently.
Do we have a Charli and Lasarus here? he said with a roll of his eyes.
I m here I said with as much confidence as I could mustar.
Here spit Lazarus looking back at his snake like buddy s.
You know the drill, shake hands I shook hands as respectful as I could knowing that anyone with
enough guts to set foot on any wrestling mat at least deserves a genuine handshake. I readied myself.
Twweeeeetttt! the whistle blow furiously and we were off. There was a quick glance into
eachothers eyes and just 27 seconds later somebody was slugging off the mat in tears and let me
just say it wasn t me. Although it was a tough match for him, I believe that he, along with his
friends, had gained a new level of respect for me that day and will keep that for the rest of your life

What Causes Pig Influenza
Every day brings a new challenge, a new lesson, and prayerfully, a new blessing. Good things
come but unfortunately, so do the bad. I remember just a few years ago hearing of people near and
far being infected with the swine flu, which is the transmitting of pig influenza into humans. It is
also known as swine influenza, piginfluenza, or hog flu. This was devastating to hear. Being of a
younger generation, this was my first time hearing of something as drastic and severe as this. I
began wondering what caused this and why now? This disease destroyed the lives of many. Some

Its significance began with the initial onslaught in 1347 to 1354. Frequent recurrences made it
hard to regain the balance of the middle ages, and the social pillars of the church, family life,
and the economy were changed forever. Monasteries and clergy suffered the greatest loss. The
Europeans began to blame God because they had no explanation for the outrage. Priests and
bishops could not give answers for what was happening so they abandoned their Christian duties
and fled. This caused the monasteries to be run by less educated people, who eventually resigned.
As the church weakened, so did the hope of the European people. Animosity between the
Christians and Jews arose, art and music became dark and depressed, and people became
obsessed with cultural death. The rich and poor, the young and old, man, woman, boy and girl
were all impacted. No one was safe. No one could help the

Review Of Nicolo And Maffeo Polo
In 1260, Nicolo and Maffeo Polo set forth on their first journey to the East. After traveling from
the East to the land of the Tartar they reached the Kublai Khan court. The Khan questioned them
about the Catholic faith and asked them to return to Europe and request the pope to send
missionaries. However, when the two explorers returned they learned that Pope Clement was
dead. After that discovery they also revealed Nicolo s wife had died while giving birth to a son,
who is now in his teenage years. After the passing of the Pope there was a long delay in naming a
new one. In 1271, Marco Poloset forth navigating across exotic lands with his father and uncle on a
journey that lasted several years. Marco Polo discovered trade and religion that has brought the
world together today. The beginning of their journey led to them being accepted into the Kublai
KhanCourt. This journey took place across deserts, mountains, and seas in East Asia, continuing
along the Silk Road, and through regions that were unknown to the Western World. Also, they had
many encounters with creatures, plants, and humans from different cultures. Through acceptance
and service, Marco Polo was led to places far away that were rich of gems, gold, and silk. Yet,
when participating in a military conflict in 1298 he was taken captive. Marco Polo, the son of a
Venetian merchant and traveler, has become one of the most famous European travelers because of
the documentation of his journey. Marco Polo

Effects Of Deforestation On Amazon Forest Resilience Research
There is a chain reaction due to deforestation. Deforestation leads to decrease in biotic pump
disrupting the water cycle leading to a decrease in transpiration and increase in temperature. Such
rise in temperature leads to lack of rainfall, increase droughts and forest fires to which the fires will
disrupt the water cycleeven more. The effects of deforestationon Amazon forest resilience research
by Zemp et al. (2017), build upon previous research done in the field of forestry studies and used
similar methods to collect data. Although they have come to some shortcomings such as the risk of
underestimating the differences which are introduced in evapotranspiration following deforestation,
compared to study using fine scale observations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Zemp et al. (2017) s result on forest resilience in their simulation supports that the Amazon s
forest survival also decrease as there is an overlap between reductions of forest resilience with
deforested areas. Despite the evidence showing the detrimental effects of deforestation, Zemp et
al. (2017) s research focuses primarily on the quantity of the forest and deforestation, as such, the
research has a gap such that other geographical influences like fertilization, greenhouse gases, and
water use, are not accounted for. However, Zemp et al. (2017) had gained more understanding as
they had used other research papers, like [Spracklen and Garcia Carreras, 2015; Lejeune et al.,
2015], to close the unanswered gaps in the deforestation issue. Although the paper has explained the
effect of deforestation on water fluxes, the problem remains that in the short and long term,
regardless of any deforestation, many of the Amazon rainforest regions will continue to lose
precipitation and become more vulnerable to disturbances from fire and droughts, even more so in
the dry season (Zemp et al. 2017).
The Drought and Deforestation: Has Land Cover Change Influenced Recent Precipitation Extremes
in the Amazon? By Bagley et al. (2014), argue that current level of deforestation influences recent
drought severity and magnitude of impacts from the land cover change which are altered in drought
relative to pluvial years. They test their hypothesis using the Weather

Faith, Family, And Religious Freedom
The family is fading. Religion is falling. Faith is failing. The first right in the First Amendment, the
right to the free practice of religion, is being viciously attacked by the citizens of America. The
traditional family an ideal so simple and fundamental that, twenty years ago, any alteration to it
would be unfathomable is now being challenged. Times are changing; society is changing. Among
others, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland addresses this change in his speech, Faith, Family, and Religious
Freedom. In this lecture given at Chapman University in 2015, he focuses on that trend in today s
society: faith, family, and religious freedom, or, more accurately, the decline in it. Traditional
family valuesand religionhave degraded at an astonishing rate, he claims; the fact that he devoted
an entire speech to the topic proves the severity of said trend. Elder Holland builds common
ground, quotes credible sources, and shows irrefutable facts and statistics to effectively convince
his religious listeners that action must be taken to prevent the disappearing freedoms of faith,
family, and religion, else disastrous consequences take place.
Part of the reason Elder Holland eminently convinced his audience that the decline in family
values is an issue was how he established a solid common ground from which they could each
relate. In a crowd so religiously diverse, in order to be truly effective, a sense of unity must be
achieved and maintained throughout the entirety of the event to

The On The Song s Development Essay
Before proceeding in discussing the hypothesis on the Song s development as somewhat
analogous to the shared internet , I will discuss first recent scholarship that validates the poetic
and rhetorical aspects of the Song s rooted from the oral tradition. Greek manuscripts provide
special formatting for the Song such that verse lines are graphically displayed. Masoretic codices
provide extensive notes for accentuations and cantillation for the Song. Although, Masoretic
manuscripts do not provide graphic layout of the verse line for the Song, Septuagint manuscripts
such as the Vaticanus, Sinaiticus, Alexandrinus, among others arrange the Song per cola et
commata, such that the stichometry of the song is counted. Silences (marked by oblique strokes
or space) and pauses (end of line verse) in the Song indicate it is rooted in oral performance. F.W.
Dobbs Allsopp makes the point; Cutting up the flow of speech into meaningful chucks, phrases,
clauses, and the like is crucial to the comprehension and enjoyment of larger wholes in oral verbal
art. He further strengthens the case for this end stopping style as one of the surest signs of biblical
poetrys deep rootage in and enduring debt to oral performance because such framing allow ideas to
be easily digestible and memorized and there is paratactic ordering and linear progression of
thoughts.
Further evidence of the Song as rooted in oral performance is that it is filled with sound play the

Arguments Against Firearms
Guns for the average citizen, or just military and law enforcement, the controversy about citizens
owning guns is becoming a more heated debate. Some people believe that the average citizen
should not be able to own and carry firearms. However, citizens should be allowed to carry
firearms because farmers and ranchers need to be able to protect their herds and livestock from
coyotes and other predators. People in the city or suburbs, or even the countryside need to protect
themselves from crime. The hunters of northern Montana need to hunt the deer they depend on for
food over the winter. The law that has been put in place where we live is known as the NY SAFE
Act. Under this new law, citizens must register their firearms and have them permanently... Show

A farmer needs to be able to defend his livestock from coyotes and other predators. The farmer
won t be able to protect his sheep, whose wool he sells to keep his farm in business. A fruit
farmer has a starling infestation. Fruit farmer Jeff Cooper can t let the birds eat the very
commodity, which will support his farm. (Slider 2) A. Dairy farmer cannot defend his milking
cows, whose milk he sells to make his profit, without this income, he will not have enough
money to keep his farm going.Ordinary people such as mothers and teachers need to be able to
protect their kids/students from criminals. A mother walking alone into work or a store needs to
protect herself from a burglar. She can t if she doesn t have a handgun, however, if she does
have a handgun, she can defend herself and stop the burglar. A teacher whose school is in a lock
down must have a way to defend herself and her students. A store clerk can t defend himself and
his customers from a robber. Firearms are used for the better, not for crime such as murder. Laws
that have been put in place because people in the government think citizens will use firearms for
riots. And permitting the ownership of firearms to citizens will only promote violence, arguments
between citizens can turn lethal and more crimes such as robberies and murders will increase, that
is what they think.

The Montessori Method Essay
The Montessori Method (Word count includes Annotated Bibliography)
The Montessori method began in the early 1900 s by the first female doctor in Italy, Dr. Mary
Montessori, as a way of educating mentally disabled children. Her ideas were so successful with
these children that she began to apply her understanding of learning to study the potential of
normally functioning children (Oalf, 2001). Dr. Montessori s approach to education stresses the
importance of learning styles, independence and responsibility.
According to Maria Montessori, In the special environment prepared?in our schools, the children
themselves found a sentence that expresses their inner need, Help me to help myself. ? (Standing,
1957). The ?prepared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In reality, the children move about the classroom independently, choosingthe order of their
learning activities. There may be 15 or more activities, or ?jobs? as they are called in some
Montessori classrooms, occurring at the same time with small groups or individual work, yet
the classroom remains quiet, yet busy and productive, sometimes with the soft hush of classical
music playing in the background. Many Montessori school classrooms place a card around the
child?s neck with the day?s objectives written in the form of a checklist for the students to
monitor themselves. This checklist encourages the students to take responsibility for their own
learning, as well as discourages prompt dependence, since the student need not wait for
instruction. Some of the activities in a Montessori classroom include reading, pre reading using
phonics, math, discovery science and writing. Children learn skills in a way that he or she is
not aware that learning is taking place. For example, a child playing in the sand box with a small
rake is not aware that he or she is learning fine motor skills and how to hold and control a pencil.
Another observation in a Montessori classroom is that most classrooms tend to span three grade
levels. This practice allows to children to become mentors to younger students. Also, the large gap
in developmental levels allows children to ?learn at their own pace? (Keller, 2001), which is
another important Montessori

The international aviation industry is arguably one of the most competitive and cut throat
businesses in the world today. Characterised by high revenue but notoriously thin profit margins,
modern international airlines are constantly searching for methods to gain advantages over their
competitors and attract new customers. One of these methods which has become popular since the
late 1990s is that of the global airline alliance. Today there are three major alliances in operation,
each containing different member airlines. These alliances offer airlinecustomers various
advantages over travel with a traditional carrier. Nevertheless, these advantages have been criticised
by some as being anti competitive, there are several examples of... Show more content on

Another major airline alliance operating today is the Oneworld alliance. Founded on 1
February 1999 by giants such as British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Qantas, it has expanded to
include twelve member airlines, and has an additional twenty non voting affiliate members,
such as QantasLink, subsidiary of Qantas, and Dragonair, subsidiary of Cathay Pacific.
Oneworld also won the Skytrax award for best airline alliance in 2010, and has won more
international awards than the other two main alliances (Oneworld, 2011). However, some may
argue that the quantity of awards received is irrelevant, and the awards by Skytrax are
recognised by many as the leading airline awards. Oneworld is also a useful alliance for New
Zealand based travellers, as Qantas membership allows frequent travellers access to the benefits of
this alliance.
Skyteam was the last of the three major airline alliances to be founded, in June 2000. According to
Rodrigue (2005), the Skyteam alliance holds 21 per cent of the market share, when measured by
traffic, making it the second largest airline alliance operating today, after Star Alliancebut before
Oneworld. Skyteam is made up of airline heavyweights such as the merged Air France KLM, in
addition to Delta Airlines, Korean Air, and China Southern Airlines. Whilst the Skyteam alliance is
large, it has also failed to secure any Skytrax airline alliance awards (Skytrax, 2011). This combined
with the fact that there are currently no

  • 4. Acid-Base Titration Lab Report Mariam SyMay 8, 2014 Acid Base Titration Lab Write up Introduction: Titration is the process of adding measured volumes of a base or acid with a known concentration to an acid or base with an unknown concentration in order to determine the unknown concentration. Volume measurements play an important role in titration. It involves measuring the exact volume of a solution with a known concentration that will react with a measured volume of a solution that has an unknown concentration. The solution that has a known concentration is called a standard solution. Acid base titration is based on neutralization that occurs in the reaction. If a base is added to an acid until the acid is neutralized, then the moles of base and the moles of acid will be equal. In other words, the moles of H+ ions must equal the number of moles of OH ions. The following equation can be used to calculate the unknown molarity of an acidic or basic solution: (Molarity of the acid) * (Volume of the acid) = (Molarity of the Base) * (Volume of the Base) or MaVa = MbVb. Equivalence point is when there is enough of the standard solution to neutralize the unknown solution. The endpoint is when the indicator changes color. The difference between the equivalence point and the endpoint is that the equivalence point is when the pH of the solution is 7 which means that it is neutral. However, the endpoint is when the indicator turns either white which shows that the solution is acidic or pink which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This was the year the girls varsity soccer team was expected to go all the way to the finals, and make a hard run at the state championship title. We had made it to the third round, and after this game we were heading north to Huntsville, Alabama for the quarter finals. Except, in an instant, this all changed after one practice, two days before our game, when our principal showed up with some heartbreaking news. We no longer had a shot at the championship title because someone on our team had broken the rules; therefore, we had been kicked out of the playoffs. This filled me with anger, hatred, and resentment towards that one person. I became a very bitter version of myself until God showed me a new path to walk down in the following week. My story beings on the Friday night before our first playoff game. My dad asked me to go to our city soccer fields to get a corner flag for the game tomorrow at the school. When I got to the fields one of my best friends texts me and says, Hey! Are high school players allowed to play on teams other than the high school team? I was confused. No they are definitely not, but was she talking about one of my teammates or someone we were supposed to play against? I storm out onto the field to see if I know who is breaking such a big rule and my mind is blown when I see one of my own teammates out on the field playing. So much is running through my mind, Do I say something to her? Do I tell my coach? What will this do to our chances of playing in the championship? All these thoughts, yet I stand on the field frozen from anger at the fact that this person thinks it s okay to break a rule in order to benefit herself. So I did what anyone like me would do and I confronted her, Do you really think it is okay that you are out here playing when our high school season is still going on? With different countries there are different popular religions that change how that society views women, not only in religious settings but outside of worship. Lummis and Nesbitt s research help understand the sociology of women in the clergy. Davison and Sargeant s research correlates with women the clergy by discussing how they change public culture. Women in the clergy have a positive effect on society because they represent how women can excel in leadershippositions in the community. Lummis and Nesbitt discuss how women achieve powerful positions but remain pastors or assistants in rural communities and don t move up in pastoral system to larger congregations (Lummis 446). They do contribute a consistent and steady leadership role for these congregations over time, however they are not exposing other congregations to having women clergy (Lummis 446). Religious theories, such as Creationism, require a belief in an intelligent God or in gods, which can neither be proved nor disproved. The Big Bang concept requires acceptance of something we cannot see (See Space.com or Universe Today). Today, evolution is one of main geneses being taught in public education. It has, however, several holes that are often avoided when taught. Let s just take a look at the origin of life. Life could not have started in the presence of oxygen, like that in our atmosphere. Evolutionists claim earth s early atmosphere was void of oxygen. Scientific evidence today shows that earth s early atmosphere may have had even more oxygen than today. Even allowing that theory, without oxygen there would be no ozone and, without ozone, life would have burnt from the ultraviolet radiation. To account for this, evolutionists say life started underwater. The water would have quickly split the molecules of any proteins that formed. Furthermore, of the 2,000 amino acids that exist, only around 20 are used in life. Every amino acid in proteins... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 27. Elton John s Song Ticking Ticking is one of Elton John s most powerful and under rated songs. Bernie Taupin, Elton s song writer, wrote the words why Elton wrote the music, and together they created a song that presents a strong statement. It is a story about a fictional young man who is seemingly normal, but in the end, he snaps and unleashes his carnage. For a song released in 1974, years before mass shootings like Columbine, Aroura, and Orlando, it is eerie that it can relate to so many mass shooting that have happened in the past few years. Elton and Bernie are giving a warning in this song that, as a society, we should focus on trying to reduce gunviolence and focus more on mental health. Looking at the title, Ticking may not immediately mean anything, but once you dig into the lyrics of the song it becomes clear. It refers to a young man who is seemingly normal and very quiet, however in the end he snaps. Also, they had many encounters with creatures, plants, and humans from different cultures. Through acceptance and service, Marco Polo was led to places far away that were rich of gems, gold, and silk. Yet, when participating in a military conflict in 1298 he was taken captive. Marco Polo, the son of a Venetian merchant and traveler, has become one of the most famous European travelers because of the documentation of his journey. Marco Polo ... • 47. Effects Of Deforestation On Amazon Forest Resilience Research There is a chain reaction due to deforestation. Deforestation leads to decrease in biotic pump disrupting the water cycle leading to a decrease in transpiration and increase in temperature. Such rise in temperature leads to lack of rainfall, increase droughts and forest fires to which the fires will disrupt the water cycleeven more. The effects of deforestationon Amazon forest resilience research by Zemp et al. (2017), build upon previous research done in the field of forestry studies and used similar methods to collect data. Although they have come to some shortcomings such as the risk of underestimating the differences which are introduced in evapotranspiration following deforestation, compared to study using fine scale observations... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Zemp et al. (2017) s result on forest resilience in their simulation supports that the Amazon s forest survival also decrease as there is an overlap between reductions of forest resilience with deforested areas. Despite the evidence showing the detrimental effects of deforestation, Zemp et al. (2017) s research focuses primarily on the quantity of the forest and deforestation, as such, the research has a gap such that other geographical influences like fertilization, greenhouse gases, and water use, are not accounted for. However, Zemp et al. (2017) had gained more understanding as they had used other research papers, like [Spracklen and Garcia Carreras, 2015; Lejeune et al., 2015], to close the unanswered gaps in the deforestation issue. Although the paper has explained the effect of deforestation on water fluxes, the problem remains that in the short and long term, regardless of any deforestation, many of the Amazon rainforest regions will continue to lose precipitation and become more vulnerable to disturbances from fire and droughts, even more so in the dry season (Zemp et al. 2017). The Drought and Deforestation: Has Land Cover Change Influenced Recent Precipitation Extremes in the Amazon? By Bagley et al. (2014), argue that current level of deforestation influences recent drought severity and magnitude of impacts from the land cover change which are altered in drought relative to pluvial years. They test their hypothesis using the Weather ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Faith, Family, And Religious Freedom The family is fading. Religion is falling. Faith is failing. The first right in the First Amendment, the right to the free practice of religion, is being viciously attacked by the citizens of America. The traditional family an ideal so simple and fundamental that, twenty years ago, any alteration to it would be unfathomable is now being challenged. Times are changing; society is changing. Among others, Elder Jeffrey R. Holland addresses this change in his speech, Faith, Family, and Religious Freedom. In this lecture given at Chapman University in 2015, he focuses on that trend in today s society: faith, family, and religious freedom, or, more accurately, the decline in it. Traditional family valuesand religionhave degraded at an astonishing rate, he claims; the fact that he devoted an entire speech to the topic proves the severity of said trend. Elder Holland builds common ground, quotes credible sources, and shows irrefutable facts and statistics to effectively convince his religious listeners that action must be taken to prevent the disappearing freedoms of faith, family, and religion, else disastrous consequences take place. Part of the reason Elder Holland eminently convinced his audience that the decline in family values is an issue was how he established a solid common ground from which they could each relate. In a crowd so religiously diverse, in order to be truly effective, a sense of unity must be achieved and maintained throughout the entirety of the event to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. The On The Song s Development Essay Before proceeding in discussing the hypothesis on the Song s development as somewhat analogous to the shared internet , I will discuss first recent scholarship that validates the poetic and rhetorical aspects of the Song s rooted from the oral tradition. Greek manuscripts provide special formatting for the Song such that verse lines are graphically displayed. Masoretic codices provide extensive notes for accentuations and cantillation for the Song. Although, Masoretic manuscripts do not provide graphic layout of the verse line for the Song, Septuagint manuscripts such as the Vaticanus, Sinaiticus, Alexandrinus, among others arrange the Song per cola et commata, such that the stichometry of the song is counted. Silences (marked by oblique strokes or space) and pauses (end of line verse) in the Song indicate it is rooted in oral performance. F.W. Dobbs Allsopp makes the point; Cutting up the flow of speech into meaningful chucks, phrases, clauses, and the like is crucial to the comprehension and enjoyment of larger wholes in oral verbal art. He further strengthens the case for this end stopping style as one of the surest signs of biblical poetrys deep rootage in and enduring debt to oral performance because such framing allow ideas to be easily digestible and memorized and there is paratactic ordering and linear progression of thoughts. Further evidence of the Song as rooted in oral performance is that it is filled with sound play the ultimately a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Arguments Against Firearms Guns for the average citizen, or just military and law enforcement, the controversy about citizens owning guns is becoming a more heated debate. Some people believe that the average citizen should not be able to own and carry firearms. However, citizens should be allowed to carry firearms because farmers and ranchers need to be able to protect their herds and livestock from coyotes and other predators. People in the city or suburbs, or even the countryside need to protect themselves from crime. The hunters of northern Montana need to hunt the deer they depend on for food over the winter. The law that has been put in place where we live is known as the NY SAFE Act. Under this new law, citizens must register their firearms and have them permanently... • 51. The Montessori Method Essay The Montessori Method (Word count includes Annotated Bibliography) The Montessori method began in the early 1900 s by the first female doctor in Italy, Dr. Mary Montessori, as a way of educating mentally disabled children. Her ideas were so successful with these children that she began to apply her understanding of learning to study the potential of normally functioning children (Oalf, 2001). Dr. Montessori s approach to education stresses the importance of learning styles, independence and responsibility. According to Maria Montessori, In the special environment prepared?in our schools, the children themselves found a sentence that expresses their inner need, Help me to help myself. ? (Standing, 1957). The ?prepared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In reality, the children move about the classroom independently, choosingthe order of their learning activities. There may be 15 or more activities, or ?jobs? as they are called in some Montessori classrooms, occurring at the same time with small groups or individual work, yet the classroom remains quiet, yet busy and productive, sometimes with the soft hush of classical music playing in the background. Many Montessori school classrooms place a card around the child?s neck with the day?s objectives written in the form of a checklist for the students to monitor themselves. This checklist encourages the students to take responsibility for their own learning, as well as discourages prompt dependence, since the student need not wait for instruction. Some of the activities in a Montessori classroom include reading, pre reading using phonics, math, discovery science and writing. Children learn skills in a way that he or she is not aware that learning is taking place. For example, a child playing in the sand box with a small rake is not aware that he or she is learning fine motor skills and how to hold and control a pencil. Another observation in a Montessori classroom is that most classrooms tend to span three grade levels. This practice allows to children to become mentors to younger students. Also, the large gap in developmental levels allows children to ?learn at their own pace? (Keller, 2001), which is another important Montessori ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 52. Discussion Surrounding Global Alliances Operating in the... The international aviation industry is arguably one of the most competitive and cut throat businesses in the world today. Characterised by high revenue but notoriously thin profit margins, modern international airlines are constantly searching for methods to gain advantages over their competitors and attract new customers. One of these methods which has become popular since the late 1990s is that of the global airline alliance. Today there are three major alliances in operation, each containing different member airlines. These alliances offer airlinecustomers various advantages over travel with a traditional carrier. Nevertheless, these advantages have been criticised by some as being anti competitive, there are several examples of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another major airline alliance operating today is the Oneworld alliance. Founded on 1 February 1999 by giants such as British Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Qantas, it has expanded to include twelve member airlines, and has an additional twenty non voting affiliate members, such as QantasLink, subsidiary of Qantas, and Dragonair, subsidiary of Cathay Pacific. Oneworld also won the Skytrax award for best airline alliance in 2010, and has won more international awards than the other two main alliances (Oneworld, 2011). However, some may argue that the quantity of awards received is irrelevant, and the awards by Skytrax are recognised by many as the leading airline awards. Oneworld is also a useful alliance for New Zealand based travellers, as Qantas membership allows frequent travellers access to the benefits of this alliance. Skyteam was the last of the three major airline alliances to be founded, in June 2000. According to Rodrigue (2005), the Skyteam alliance holds 21 per cent of the market share, when measured by traffic, making it the second largest airline alliance operating today, after Star Alliancebut before Oneworld. Skyteam is made up of airline heavyweights such as the merged Air France KLM, in addition to Delta Airlines, Korean Air, and China Southern Airlines. Whilst the Skyteam alliance is large, it has also failed to secure any Skytrax airline alliance awards (Skytrax, 2011). This combined with the fact that there are currently no ...
