The Parable of the Lost Sheep is one of the many parables Jesus gave during his
lifetime. It is found in the two canonical gospels: Matthew 18:10 14 and Luke 15:3

Raymond Carver s Cathedral (1983), uses elements such as tone, which is the
author s attitude toward a subject and style, which describes the ways that the
author uses words the author s word choice, sentence structure, figurative language,

of an antihero, in order to establish his ignorance towards a blind man whom he

man is working. Philippa Foothas arranged that no matter which way the driver
turns, it would be impossible for the workmen to get off the track safely and on
time to avoid being run down by the trolley (Thomson 1395). As a first instinct, the
driver tries to slam on the trolley s brakes to avoid hitting any of the workmen.
Unfortunately, the brakes on the trolley do not work. Thus, the driver is left facing
this situation: should he continue going straight or should he quickly turn the

(Xanthomyza phrygia)
The Regent Honeyeater, or Xanthomyza phrygia, is a critically endangered tiny bird
native to open forests and woodland areas of North Western Australia. They are
similar to hummingbirds, except that they incorporate fruit into their diet. The Regent
Honeyeater is also known as is Embroidered Bee Eater or Embroidered Honeyeater.
As can be seen in the picture below, the male honeyeater is predominantly black with
yellow trimming on the tail and wings. Females share similar coloring patterns, but

Mayall s object (also known as Arp 148) is the stunning result of an encounter
between two galaxies resulting in a ring shaped galaxy and a long tailed companion,
located almost 465 million light years away within the constellation Ursa Major. The

importance of characters in a novel is by paying attention to how they are
characterised. In the first chapter of the novel, A Separate Peace, John Knowles

The first epidemiological transition, according to Newman, came with the Neolithic
revolution around 6,000 B.C. Populations exploded as agricultural technologies
advanced, but the supply of food rarely exceeded the growing need. The widespread
effects of resultant malnutrition are most readily observable in the altered growth
and maturation rates of the children surviving dietary crises, their disease
susceptibilities, and in the vitality of the adults. [...] Another consequence of chronic

be seen in civilizations overly reliant on maize, such as depression era Southerners in

This conversation between Cressida and Pandarus demonstrates the representation of
masculinity in both Coriolanus and Troilus and Cressida. Each of them is concerned
with ideas of honour and military prowess in relation to the male identity, drawing on
the masculine ideals of Roman antiquity a prominent notion during the early modern
period as is evident in Pandarus notions of what a man is . Shakespeare does not,
however, endorse these notions in the plays; his handling of the subject is
reminiscent more of Cressida s response in this passage, suggesting that the same

People think that when they change themselves, they become better. Everyone wants
to feel special and unique, that is often why people go through conversions. But
sometimes the transformation can actually ruin someone s life. It can take away
normality or create a completely new being. Converting oneself can either be
beneficial or actually be detrimental to one s life. Is becoming a new self worth the
risks that come with it? Taking away the normality in life can be something that can
changeone s life to the worse. There will be constant discrimination and fear in a

Changing life form changes one s perspective in life. But becoming something new
can make one leave human society, this can cause problems. In the story Desertion ,
Fowler is conducting research of Jupiter, to see whether humans can live there or
not. After Fowler sends out four men that never came back, after they were
converted to Jovian form, which is the only way humans can survive in Jupiter s
atmosphere, he converted himself and his dog as well. His dog, Towser, and him
went out of the domes and began to experience an immense amount of knowledge.
But instead he had found something greater than Man had ever known. A swifter,
surer body. A sense of exhilaration, a deeper sense of life. A sharper mind
(Desertion, p.125). Because of this though, Fowler and Towser become to
obsessed with their new life form, they don t want to change back to their original
forms. I can t go back, said Towser. Nor I, said Fowler. They would turn me back
into a dog, said Towser. And me, said Fowler, back into a man. (Desertion, p.126).
Their selfishness caused them to leave the people without the information that they
were sent to get. They practically abandon human life, which hurts the researchers
efforts; this prolongs the search of a new home when it is need. If they keep
converting humans into Jovian form, then all those people will leave human life
forever, and human life will be in danger when it comes a time to find a new planet

Impact of Dean on Sal s Identity in On the Road
In part I, chapter 3 of Jack Kerouac s On the Road, Sal arrives at Des Moines and
checks into a cheap, dirty motel room. He sleeps all day and awakens in time to
witness the setting sun. As he looks around the unfamiliar room, Sal realizes that he
doesn t understand his own identity. Identity lost, he states I was half way across
America, at the dividing line between the East of my youth and the West of my
future. He has lost the calming influence of his aunt, and Dean and partners are not
around to feed his wild streak. The only clues to his identity are to be found in the
strange motel room. This appeal to emotion gives the reader personal hints to identify

Without exception, it changes every time he encounters new circumstances and
surroundings. On the way to visit Old Bull Lee in New Orleans during part II, chapter
6, Sal is driving while Dean and Mary Lou are asleep. He is alone with time to
think to himself, and he does not know what he is doing or where he is going. The
style of the passage intrigues the reader; All alone in the night I had my own
thoughts and held the car to the white line in the holy road. Dean is no longer
mentally present to lead him and feed his identity. Sal has no one to show him the
way and he is forced to cling to his physical surroundings for comfort. His entire
existence centers around following the straight line in the road. In chapter 7, after
the stay with Old Bull, Dean is ready to leave and hit the road again. Sal is
compelled to go with him although he would really like to stay with Bull awhile.
Again, Kerouac uses emotion to move the reader, because most people have been
torn between following one of two friends at some point.
In chapter 8 of part two, Dean steals gas and oil as Sal runs into the station and
takes bread and cheese while the owners are in back eating dinner. Sal seems to be
adapting his personality to that of Dean s. Earlier in the novel, when Montana Slim
asks him to steal from strangers in alley ways, Sal doesn t seem to want anything to
do with it. This schizophrenic behavior appears throughout the book, prohibiting one
from understanding who Sal is

The Gap Between Vocal And Instrumental Instruction
Throughout the beginning of music education, there has been a divide. A separation
between the lands of vocalists and instrumentalists existed and still exists today.
While it isn t a conscience happening at all times, it can divide a music program into
two separate entities. Figuring out how the two areas can coincide will ultimately get
musiceducators on the right tracks for building an excelling program. When students
feel that they can be in both and feel wanted in each area and not feel tension between
the directors and the music choices, they can thrive. Removing the gap between vocal
and instrumental instruction can be done by researching alike techniques and
implementing the coinciding department into either program.

With woodwind players, tone can be changed by simply changing the space in the
throat and mouth. The same can be said of brass players, but one other aspect lies in
the amount of space between the teeth. If enough space between the teeth is not
present, especially with young brass players, an unpleasant buzzing sound will occur,
once again hindering a beautiful tone. The directors of vocalists push and push for
more space in the mouth and throat, especially with young singers that want to sound
like the next greatest pop artist. The music performed in the context of concerts and
contests at the high school and middle school level, however, need just the opposite.

Instrumentalists use these on a reoccurring basis for warmups before rehearsal.
Scales are learned at a brisk tempo for auditions and at the collegiate level,
technique books and extended technique exercises are studied. These are used to
not only warm up air, but to also warm up the fingers and gain dexterity. For
vocalists, similar processes occur. Before rehearsing, vocalists use warmups; most
of which are based on scales, arpeggios and other theory points. They are used to
warm up the voice, and get performers aware of their breathing and voice flexibility.
