When examining a family s history it is obvious that the many children have ended up with the
same level of education as their parents and ancestors. Children whose parents received tertiary
level education normally obtain a qualification from tertiary level education as well. This idea was

the skills that a person can use to their advantage in a social situation, especially in education. While

As a teacher, our responsibility is to plan effective lessons for our students to learn from. Although,
the hardest part of being a teacher is grasping the student s motivation to learn. Therefore, the
educational philosophers Borich and Wong have different approaches to make us effective teachers
motivate our students to learn new and exciting teachings. These different methods may include a
wide range of how teachers run their classrooms, or what specific standards are being targeted, and
maybe even how effective their planning techniques are. Not to mention, students may also expect
positive expectations from the teacher and ways to help them succeed. On the other note, inviting
students to learn may be easier than thought, in which may result in positive student behavior. Thus,
my opinion of what Borich and Wong have to say about student learningis very beneficial to me so,
that one day I may use their techniques in my very own classroom.

Wuthering Heights, published by Emily BrontГ« in 1847, tells a story of the history of Wuthering
Heights and the tragic love story that precedes it. The two central settings of the work, Thrushcross
Grange, and Wuthering Heights represent Freud s structural model of the human psyche: the id and
the superego. Because Freud s structural model presents the notion that internal conflict is
inevitable, the two settings illustrate the complexities of the human subconscious and the
characters difficulty in navigating them.
In BrontГ« s Wuthering Heights, the namesake setting of the book represents the Freudian id, by
reason of its primitive aspect in the work. In psychoanalytic theory, the id is responsible for the
primal instincts in humans, and almost always seeks immediate fulfillment. Early on in the novel,
the primal nature of Wuthering Heights exposes itself: the Gothic architecture of the house gives
off a sense of foreboding, the inside of the home lacks conventional furnishings, meat hangs from
the kitchen ceiling, and Lockwood, the narrator, notices a pile of dead rabbits in the living room.
Lockwood calls the atmosphere surrounding the house a tumult to which its station is exposed in
stormy weather (5). The description of the home reveals an underlying barbarity to it, similar to the
id. The darkness in the Heights mirrors location of the id in the human subconscious; the id is
located deep in the recesses of the human mind, so many humans who engage the id have no way to
resist it. The tone of the work shrouds the Heights in an antagonistic darkness, and the lack of
conventionality coupled with the turbulent weather serves as a physical manifestation of the id.
In contrast, Thrushcross Grange represents the superego due to the air of controlled refinement
surrounding the home. Freud s model defines the superego as the part of the mind that acts as a
critical self conscious, reflecting social standards learned through parents and teachers. The refined
nature of the house and its adherence to societal standards shows in its physical appearance. As he
described the appearance of Thrushcross Grange in the novel Heathcliff should have thought
[himself] in heaven , (48). Unlike the Heights, the

Tulane, being the first private research university in the nation to institute a public service
requirement for graduation, clearly attracts students who are similarly motivated towards civic
engagement and public outreach. As an active member of the Service Council at the William
Penn Charter School, I have witnessed firsthand the value of learning outside of the classroom
and engaging with the world. One of the projects I am most involved with is providing meals for

Organ trafficking is becoming progressively more common around the world. The donor list
becomes longer every day with people in need of a transplant. There are over 120,000 people in
the United States alone on the kidney transplant waiting list (National Kidney Foundation, 2016).
People on the waiting list are having to wait for a live donor (who wants no monetary gain) to
donate a kidney, or they are waiting for someone to die. Nonetheless, many people are unwilling
to donate an organ while living, and doing so for money is illegal. Under 1984 federal law, it is

The result of someone seeking organs illegally has them going outside of the United States to
obtain the organs. As stated in one article, This gap between demand and supply has prompted
many people in the west with organ failure to seek transplants overseas, often in developing
countries (Adair Wigmore, 2011, para. 3). This can be very dangerous as they are trusting other
nations to perform their surgeries. The recipient also risks receiving an unhealthy organ. One

The most common approach is revenge tragedy. Revenge tragedy is the act of a character feeling
the need for revenge. The character does achieve the goal of revenge, but typically causes a
tragedy by dying himself or causing other to die in the process. Hamlet goes through his own
internal conflict and takes a long time to avenge his father s murder. Glyn Austen provides a view
that Hamlets revenge is more orchestrated by his enemies than by himself. (Glyn 1) This argument
is supported through many parts of the play. Through Hamlet s soliloquies, the audience can
conclude that Hamlet is torn by his mission. Although he clearly wants Claudius dead, he is
constantly hesitant about his future actions. Even when he has adequate proof that his uncle did

Thomas wrote this poem while being aware that his father was dying of cancer and brilliantly

I always had a positive outlook on everything when I was younger. In fact, up until this year, I
could still find the good in every negative situation. When I became depressed, though,
everything changed dramatically. I cant explain how confused I was. Nothing had happened to
make me feel the way I did; it really just came out of nowhere. Being a person who looks to logic
for explanation, I was not only depressed and confused, but irritated. I kept thinking, This is not
normal. Humans are not supposed to feel like this . I had always had the power to change my
