The document discusses the importance of integrating information and communication technology (ICT) into the teaching and learning process. Several studies have found that ICT can significantly enhance learning outcomes, critical thinking skills, and problem solving abilities. In response, UNESCO launched a project called "Preparing the Next Generation of Teachers Through ICT" to help teacher education institutions in the Asia-Pacific region incorporate ICT training. Similarly, Malaysia has made ICT a central part of its educational system in order to develop a technologically-literate workforce and achieve its Vision 2020 of sustained economic growth.
