This document discusses the high incidence of patient falls in hospitals and examines the effectiveness of various evidence-based practices (EBPs) to reduce these falls, particularly in dementia patients. It highlights the mixed results of interventions like fall risk assessments and bed alarms, while also proposing the need for further research into better preventive measures such as hourly rounding and the use of patient sitters. Organizational barriers to implementing EBPs, including financial constraints and lack of support, are also addressed.
