9 Frame Grid from our video
Evaluation 1 part 2a
Shot 1 – A shot that shows a link between
lyrics and visuals
This is a shot that demonstrates our
link between visuals and lyrics,
because as this shot plays the lyrics
“Grab your clothes and get gone” are
sung. This is at the same time as she is
putting his clothes in a bag so he can
take them and leave since they have
broken up. We also have other
examples of this in our video.
Shot 2 – A shot that shows how a company
would want their artist to be represented
This is a shot demonstrating how a
company would want our artists to be
represented as she looks glamourous, but
not so much that she seems above her
target audience. She has her hair curled,
her makeup done, has nice clothes on
and is wearing a choker, so looks
fashionable, however not to the extent
that her image would be completely
unattainable by her fans.
Shot 3 – A shot that shows how our video uses
the Pop Ballad genre
This shot is reflective of the Pop Ballad
genre, as Pop Ballads are often about
relationships that have broken up, and so
they often have clips of the artist or actor
in the video crying due to this. Since our
song is also about a relationship break-up,
we chose to have a shot of her crying
(demonstrated by the mascara running
down her face) to show this convention
of the genre.
Shot 4 – A shot that demonstrates our use of
editing
This is a shot that demonstrates our
use of editing as it shows how we
used a fade to make the dancer seem
as if she was disappearing. We did this
by taking a shot of the dancer and
then a shot of the empty stage and
fading the first shot into the second
to create the illusion that she
disappears.
Shot 5 – A shot that demonstrates our use of
camera
This is a shot that demonstrates our use
of camera as it shows how we have used
an over-the-shoulder shot to get across
her point of view as she turns over the
TV channel. This shot helped us to
continue to target our audience as the
programme shown is reality TV which a
lot of people watch, allowing them to
better relate to our artist.
Shot 6 – A shot that demonstrates our use of
lighting
This is a shot that demonstrates our use
of lighting, as we turned the lights off
half way through a shot, which fitted
with the lyrics “Cut it out”. This was
really effective because you can no longer
see the artist which captured the message
that we were trying to send to our
audience – she has cut him out of her life
and so he can’t see her anymore.
Shot 7 – A shot that demonstrates our use of
Mise En Scene
This is a shot that effectively shows our
use of Mise En Scene as roses and rose
petals are a common theme throughout
or video and ancillary tasks. In the video
the rose was a gift from the ex as a way to
apologise, and she finishes the video by
burning it. This demonstrates how we
effectively used our Mise En Scene, as
when our target audience sees roses, they
will think of our artist.
Shot 8 – A shot that demonstrates that we have
watched other videos
This is a shot that I feel shows that we
have watched other videos, as it
shows our outside location. Lots of
pop ballads tend to have outside, yet
isolated locations to show their
loneliness, which is what we have
demonstrated here as she is outside
but there no-one else there.
Shot 9 – A shot that demonstrates that we have
watched other videos
This is another shot that
demonstrates that we have watched
other videos, as Pop Ballad videos
tend to have close ups of the artists
while they are singing. We made sure
to include lots of close ups to reflect
this in our own video, like this shot.
