Evaluation 6) what have you learnt about
This feature was used to upload our video, receive
user statistics and audience feedback.
I have previously had a Youtube account and I
would not consider myself an advanced user in
terms of uploading and sharing content but I do
know how to perform basic navigation, viewing and
uploading videos.
I have not used a headset much before on a PC
but I am now confident that I can produce my
own files, convert them to a suitable format (e.g.
MP3) and upload them to the internet. I used the
headset for this exact purpose of recording my
thoughts.
I have previously used a scanner to upload images
and I did not learn any new skills however it was a
useful way of presenting our storyboards.
Throughout the research and production, I used Microsoft Office’s
Excel, Powerpoint and Word. I am familiar with these applications
and several other office features such as Publisher which we could
have also used.
We used Excel to create our filming schedules to pinpoint on which
precise days we could possibly film several weeks before.
Powerpoint was used to process our thoughts as a group into what
exact conventions made up the genre. Word was the main way in
which we presented our general information such as character
casting.
Many people can use advanced features of the internet and I feel
comfortable using this technology, however I have learnt ways to
interact with the internet more so than extracting information from
it such as blogs and other types of uploading websites. This was
used to research the genre and to receive our feedback.
Although one of our major problems occurred through the video
camera, it was a technical fault and we just needed to use a
compatible camera. I have learnt that Adobe Premiere Pro cannot
generalise its compatibility to all cameras as once we uploaded our
footage which we had filmed again, it was completely motionless.
This problem was solved by using a camera that the college provided,
we have learnt to be more efficient and will make sure that the
camera is compatible in the future.
I feel as though I am a seasoned user in the
basic applications of a digital camera, I am
confident in using one and so I did not really
learn any advanced skills as we were taking
pictures purely to pinpoint our locations.
Familiarity: I have used this before, this was when I was studying
GCSE Media in High School to make a magazine. However since I
have returned to use the program, I can now produce titles and an
image to feature alongside it in the background.
Skills developed during production: We created all titles using this, I
can now produce several layers within the title alongside the image.
Used with more effect as we could add several layers.
Familiarity: I have used this program before; to
produce a practical production for GCSE Media, I
feel as though I can confidently use this program
without any major assistance. I have learnt how to
structure our sequence precisely and to adjust key
frames. This was needed as the sound was an
obstacle in the form of wind. Photoshop images
were imported and used to good effect with the
sound effect of the gunshot and siren after the
initial footage of the dealers. It was designed with
the purpose of surprising the audience.
This social network can be used be most people
my age and I suppose that I am not different.
We utilised this so that we could gather our
feedback efficiently and with no real hassle.
During the preliminary task my group
struggled to navigate through the menus of the
sound recorder provided: this is because I
could not locate the file in which the recording
was going to be saved into. However we used it
to greater effect while recording our voiceover.
I am familiar with the video cassette as I used
this in GCSE Media as well, I can confidently
use this form of technology as there is not a
complicated procedure to using it. We used it
to capture our footage and upload via a
computer.
This program was introduced to my group
when we encountered the problem of a
motionless film. We had not used this program
before but once it was demonstrated to us, we
could now identify what format is needed to
make the film work again. Our initial attempt
failed however I now have the knowledge of
using this application.
This application was used to present some of
my portfolio, this is the first time in which I
have used this feature and I am a basic user
(comfortable with uploading) I have not tried
any other features such as interacting with
other users and their work.
