Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product? Peter Gatling Evaluation
In our preliminary task we used the technique of in camera editing so we therefore only had string the pieces of film together and add a simple audio track then piece was complete Where as in the final product we chose to capture all the filming we needed at a certain time and then edit it all using the software at a later stage. By doing this we were able to play around with effects more allowing us to create smoother transitions between shots and add fades and flashes seen here Preliminary task Hammer film product
Also since progressing from the preliminary task have played a lot more attention to the mis en scene if certain shot therefore making them more believable and not limiting us from the usual shot that we were able to do In the preliminary task we were limited to doing a romantic encounter as teenagers in a less romantic location as that all we were able to do at the time Where as in the final production piece we were able to really get involved with the mis en scene of the shot and bring in costumes such as forensic science suits and business suits to give our characters the appearance of being forensic detectives and police detectives rather than the teenagers that we really were. As well as having the freedom to be able to choose the perfect location and create the mis en scene accordingly
Now having completed the product I have discovered that compared to our preliminary task our final product required a lot more planning towards the final piece, such as steady camera shots that in keep with the conventions of the genre that we were tying to follow. I also found out that the final product required a lot more attention to editing than our preliminary because while doing our preliminary we were able to in camera edit, all we needed to do was string the film together. Where as in the final product we had to place all of the film onto a digital file and then choose certain shots from all of our raw footage and then string them together to gain a basic concept of the product. Then after we had the basic storyline together we then needed to add effects such as the sunburst effect to then give our characters certain representations such as mysterious & violent By adding effects like these white flashes we were able to create quick transitions from each shot making them appear smooth and giving the scene a montage effect showing a lot of what the characters were doing quickly then easily showing this to the audience
