Evaluation technologies
- 1. What have you learned from technologies from the process of constructing this product? - I have learned a lot about a wide range of different technology for my product. I had not previously used much of the software for producing the product. Technology has really enhanced the production of music magazines, even just in the last 10-15 years. - I found the tools on Photoshop are mostly simple and easy to use, and felt more comfortable using them as my product progressed. I found effects such as the “drop shadow” and “stroke”, very useful in improving both the images and text aesthetically. However, I did find myself overusing some of these effects, which all together had an adverse effect on the product. - At first, I tried to use Microsoft Publisher, but after using this for the College magazine, soon realised it was not suitable for the final product. It is simple but not sophisticated enough to produce professional looking magazine pages.
- 2. - For the first time, I have documented my progress through the use of a blog. I felt this augmented my project because it is much easier to edit mistakes. However, there are obvious restraints, such as it not existing physically, and the threat of a computer unexpectedly crashing, which could mean you lose hours of work. Luckily this did not happen whilst I was completing my project. -The project as a whole could have been done without most of the technology, however it would have been of a much lower standard. For example, instead of using Survey Monkey, I could have asked people face-to-face for their opinions. - Another way software has helped is through the use of Slideshare to present my PowerPoint presentations. This could have been done by saving as a JPG file, but the multi-media aspect of Slideshare makes it preferential.
- 3. Hardware I have not learnt much about the hardware involved, as i had already used the majority of them for previous work. The hardware i have used is: A camera, memory stick and a PC/mac. The memory stick and PC were used throughout all stage sof the process, whereas the camera was only used in the production stage.
