Focus groupSocial Networking- FacebookQuestionnaires to Target AudienceCan ask target more focused individual question to gain a better viewpoint on how my documentary targets and effects my target market.Fast , current comments targeting audience directlyThis presentation will focus on the social networking and questionnaire feedback I shall be producing a video for my focus group results. Can produce analytic graphs which can be produced into graphs to show the majority viewpoint
Online ....I posted both my finished print and film onto my personal account to collect the vies on my work and how the audience react to my documentary.Response to documentary advert...I had a number of Facebook ‘Likes’ on my work from teenagers/young adults ranging from 15-20 showing that my target market ‘like’ my advert and they find it meets their audience needs, however in an interesting turn of event s all of the members of the audience which commented on my work where females, this shows that females find my documentary more applying then males, this could be due to the strong use of makes and a female model

  • 13. Teacher Interview with Mrs Barnham went on for too long and the film lost its high energy developed from the opening titles.Post Production QuestionnaireCopy of questionnaire gave to audience before watching the documentaryAsking a group of Year 10/11 students who are on the younger side of my target audience.Question One and TwoDid you enjoy watching the documentary?Did you understand the documentary? 100% enjoyed and understood the documentary“ I really enjoyed the documentary it was very good”Showing the target audience like and understand the contextual information of my production and enjoyed the documentary
  • 14.  Did you learn anything from the documentary?“Nothing I didn’t already know”
  • 15. “ It raised my awareness”
  • 16. “ some very interesting facts”
  • 17. “ how bad the problem is”
  • 18. “Not too drink as much in the future”Bought the problem to the audience and forced them to digest it and listen leading to information being learnt, could of included more facts to target larger percentage of audienceDid the documentary stick to the subject?“I think Layla’s documentary stuck to the subject pretty well but did go off on a little bit of a tangent”
  • 19. Yes the topics were all relevant to teen life”From other forms of research I found out that the viewers who believe it went off in some places believed that it was during the interview with the sixth form teacher, in reflexion I could of edited the interview down to keep the flow of the choppy atmosphere and keep a narrative flowing.Q5 : When watching the documentary did you feel that it was boring at any point?“ The interview with the teacher seemed to last for a while”
  • 20. The interviews got a bit boring but the use of cutaways was cleverWas there anything that you didn’t like when watching the documentary? “ Interviews could have been shortened”
  • 21. “ No , I was well sucked in “
  • 22. “ It was really good”The general feeling from the questionnaires is that the audience enjoyed the majority of it however some of the interviews went on for too long and should have been replace with more snappy/poppy bits like the openingCan you suggest any improvements that could be made? “ maybe edit the interview with the teacher so it is in keeping with the rest of the documentary”
  • 23. “ I really enjoyed it although so areas where hard to hear”
  • 24. “ the opening text was slightly hard to read”The main areas which I would plan to change now I have receive post production feedback is the teacher interview so it is shorter and keeps the complete interest of the audience and also adjust the volume levels so that went burnt onto DVD the non-dirgetic soundtrack is softer and the dirgetic narration can be heard.
  • 25. Did everything on screen work well (e.g music, cutaways, music and the interviews) “ I didn’t like the opening font , it was difficult to read”
  • 26. “ I really liked the black and white effect at the beginning”
  • 27. “ It was really good, especially the music”
  • 28. “ Yes it all went really well together” 90% of audience thought that everything worked well and the 10 % which did not feel this the area which they didn’t like were like by the majority others therefore this is down to personal taste, however if I was looking to re-produce the documentary t o ensure I pleased the whole of my audience I would look to reduce the effect slightly so it is more readable. Has the documentary affected you in any way?“ I will look at my youth and the way in which I spend it”
  • 29. “ I won’t get wasted during the middle of the week”
  • 30. “ Maybe not to drink so much in the future”Although I have only effected half my audience I feel the percentage in which I have effected have retained the message in which I wanted my audience to feel, if I was to re-produce my documentary I think I would use a true life story within my documentary as this would make the production more real and emotional and hopefully target the other 44% of the audience.
  • 31. Cross referencing with Pre-Production Questionnaires“usually if produced by bias adults”This is a very interesting point , because of the lack of professional equipment which I had access to my documentary has a real atmosphere of being created by a teenager and in the current generation this is becoming more and more easy to do by young film markers , therefore I personally feel my documentary would be more accepted within my target market as a teen HAS produced in compared to a large team of adults.Quotes from Pre-production Questionnaires“teenage culture has mere freedom to do whatever they wish...”Teens like to fill in control and by stating within the documentary that I myself like to drink they build a connection with me and when I go on to speak to professional they can see there selves in my position and the important message which I am trying to convey is more likely to sink in and referring back to my post production questionnaire a member of my target market quotes “( made they realise )how bad the problem is””
